Business Plan Course Outline - 2022-24 Batch
A well thought out and carefully structured business plan is the key to the long-term
success of any business as it decides the future of any enterprise irrespective of its size
be it a small, medium or a large one. A business plan is necessary to raise finance for
new or existing venture. It provides a blueprint for management in the future. Without
such a plan no financial institution, be it a bank or a venture finance company, will
consider the financing any new venture or further expansion or diversification of an
existing enterprise. Thus, a business plan assumes the most important step in launching
any new venture or expanding an existing one and preparing such a plan requires
specialized skills. The course is aimed to take students through the process of
conceiving, creating, managing and selling a business plan. The goal is to provide
students with a solid background of relevant applications and important concepts for
making their own business plans.

III. Assessment
Each student will have to submit a business plan in different stages for the assessment.
A Project Examination Committee (PEC) will do the assessment. The PEC would consist
of two to three members. The student shall be assessed based on the Defense of
Proposal (weightage 20%), First Draft of Report and its Presentation (weightage
50%), and Revision of the Draft as per comments from Faculty / Industry Panel i.e.
Final Report (weightage 30%). The business plan should not be less than 10,000
words, excluding annexure.
Each member of the PEC will give individual assessment. The same will then be
weighted with 50% weight assigned to Faculty Guide’s grade/marks, and 25% each to
grade/marks of other two members of the PEC.
