VLV VALVE
The LEAP-1B is the power source for the entire BOEING 737 MAX family (MAX 7, MAX 8 and
MAX 9). The powerplant take-off thrust at sea level static conditions ranges from 23,000 lbf to
29,300 lbf.
This illustration provides information about the approximate external dimensions and ground
clearance.
Powerplant - Airflows
Intake air is splitted into 2 airflows : the primary which is directed to the booster, the HPC, the
combustion chamber and the turbine section. The secondary passes through the outer portion
of the fan blades, the OGVs, and exits through the exhaust.
Powerplant - Purpose
The powerplant provides the aircraft with: forward thrust and reverse thrust (only on ground),
several power sources: air, electricity and hydraulics and data for operation and maintenance.
Hazard and danger areas are defined at idle and take-off power to prevent any human or
material damage during engine run-ups.
Engine noise can cause injuries to persons. Specific hazard areas are defined depending on
engine power.
Powerplant Systems
The powerplant includes: engine systems and aircraft systems (partially fitted on the engine).
