 Words are formed by combining the letters of the alphabet.


It is important to remember that the English alphabet is
composed of 26 letters with 5 vowels and 21 consonants.

 By combining some of these letters, words may be formed.


Some of these words includes net, one, pen, and red.
Activity 1:
Directions: Read the sets of word below the circle the letter that
has the same ending sounds.

RHYMING WORDS are two or more words that don’t start with the same
sounds, but they end with same sounds.
Words are rhyme when the last sound of two words or more are the
same but their first sounds are different.

Let us read the pairs of words. These words are rhyming words.
Listen as I read to you these groups of words.

RHYMING WORDS are two or more words that have the same or similar
ending sound.
Some examples of rhyming words are:
cat mat rat hat
pen men ten hen
cot hot not rot
goat boat coat float

When you are figuring out if two words rhyme, use your ears to listen. If
they sound the same or similar, they are rhyming words.

E. Abstract Directions: Listen as I read the nursery rhymes. Encircle the rhyming
words.

F. Formative Directions: Draw a line to match each pictures on the left with its
