Subject: Mass Air Flow Sensor - Maintenance

Schedule - Cleaning Procedure
This Service Bulletin has been issued to inform Dealers that the MAF sensor cleaning procedure
previously introduced to the maintenance schedule from March 2017 has been further refined and
now applies to all above models.
This procedure will add no more than 3 minutes to each scheduled service.
Air Blow Procedure;
Outline:
This MAF Sensor air blow out procedure is to be performed during air cleaner element inspection at
each 10,000 km (normal maintenance) & 5,000 km (additional maintenance) schedule.
To ensure optimal MAF sensor operation the following procedure has been developed.

Note: Vehicles operating in dusty conditions will benefit the most from this additional maintenance
item and potential for the MAF DTC’s being logged.

PROCEDURE:
Tools Required:
• Compressed Air - Pressure 0.4 ~ 1 MPa. (58 ~ 145 Psi).
Note: Pressure higher than 1 MPa can result in damage to the MAF Sensor.
• Air Gun.
•10 mm Socket and Ratchet.
•Torque wrench suitable for 6.5 Nm.

top section.

3. Using air gun, air pressure 0.4 ~ 1 MPa

(58 ~ 145 Psi), blow air through the Air Box
exit hole, into both Sub Bypass passages of
the MAF Sensor for 30 seconds.
Do Not blow air continuously.
Pulse air gun approx. 3-6 secs ON / 1 sec OFF
CAUTION: Do not insert the air gun directly into the
