    INTRODUCTION
    Tesla coil is an electrical resonant transformer
    circuit invented and named after by Nicola
    Tesla in 1891. It is used to produce high
    voltage, low current alternating current
    electricity. The output voltage is produced by
    resonance

    FORMULA USED

    Here, f is resonating frequency


    L is self inductance
    C is capacitance

    In order to generate high output voltage


    levels, both the primary and secondary
    circuits are adjusted to be in resonance
    with each other. So, the resonant
    frequencies in both circuits can be known
    by inductance and capacitance values in
    the circuits.

    FORMULA USED

    Here, ‘f1’ corresponds to the resonant


    frequency in the primary tuned circuit and
    ‘f2’ corresponds to the resonant frequency in
    the secondary tuned circuit

    In general, the secondary circuit is not


    adjusted and so the primary circuit is tuned
    until the resonant frequencies of both
    matches.

    APPLICATION
    Small Tesla coils are used in various fields
    which are as follows:
    This coil is used for car spark plug ignition.
    In vacuum system leak detectors.
    In high vacuum systems and arc lighters.
    In aluminum welding.

    The circuit operates in a rapid repeating cycle
    in which the supply transformer charges the
    capacitor to a high voltage; which has low
    reactance

    The circuit operates in a rapid repeating cycle in


    which the supply transformer charges the
    capacitor to a high voltage; which has low
    reactance. When the voltage across the capacitor
    reaches the breakdown voltage of the spark gap,
    a spark bridge is formed. As a result spark gap
    resistance is reduced to a very low value. This
    finishes the primary circuit. So the current from
    the capacitor flows through the primary coil. The
    current flows rapidly back and forth between the
    plates of the capacitor through coil generating
    radio frequency oscillating current in the
    primary circuit at the circuits resonant
    frequency.
