Statement of Problem
What are my school’s Strengths and weaknesses as an institution?
Reasons for selecting Area of Research
The researchers chose the topic ‘The school as an Institution its Strengths and Weaknesses’
because they had observed for several years of attending multiple schools, how some school
systems seemed functional while some weren’t. In most cases many school systems
weren’t.
Method Of Investigation
The method of investigation chosen by the researchers to complete their Social Studies
School Based Assessment (SBA) is the questionnaire.
The questionnaire will consist of printed/written questions which will then we distributed to
be answered among students or teachers participating in the survey being conducted in a
school.
The reason the researchers chose the questionnaire over other methods of investigation was
because:
1. Broad data collection: Questionnaires allow researchers to collect data from a large
number participants simultaneously. They can distribute questionnaires to a wide range of
individuals, geographically dispersed or not, and gather a significant amount of information
efficiently.

2. Standardization: Questionnaires provide a standardized approach to data collection. By

using the same set of questions, researchers ensure consistency in the data gathered,
making it easier to analyze and compare responses.

3. Anonymity and privacy: Questionnaires can be designed to be anonymous, allowing

respondents to provide honest and sensitive information without fear of identification or
judgment. This can be particularly valuable when researching sensitive topics or gathering
personal opinions.

4. Cost-effectiveness: Compared to other methods such as interviews or experiments,

questionnaires are often more cost-effective. They require fewer resources, and the data
collection process can be automated, reducing the need for extensive researcher
involvement.

5. Flexibility and scalability: Questionnaires can be adapted to various research contexts and
are suitable for both quantitative and qualitative data collection. They can cover a wide
range of topics and be easily modified to suit different research goals. Additionally,
questionnaires can be administered on different platforms, such as paper, online surveys, or
mobile apps, making them scalable for large-scale studies.
