COMPLETION STANDARDS:
At the completion of this lesson, the applicant will be able to perform the listed ground operations with a minimum
of instructor assistance. The applicant will demonstrate the knowledge of attitudes, power settings, and
configurations necessary to perform the listed maneuvers and procedures by maintaining altitude 200 feet,
headings 10, and airspeeds 10 knots, The applicant will also adequately explain the aeronautical knowledge

COMPLETION STANDARDS:
At the completion of this lesson, the applicant will be able to perform all the listed ground procedures without
instructor assistance. The applicant will demonstrate the ability to prepare the airplane for flight, properly
accomplish the appropriate checklists, operate the airplane safety during normal, all-engine flight and accomplish
the required procedures and maneuvers within the limits established by the Commercial Pilot Practical Test
Standard.
During the short-field procedures, the applicant will demonstrate good directional control and maintain liftoff,
climb, approach, and touchdown airspeed 10 knots, rollouts from turns 15 of assigned headings, and
specified altitudes 150 feet. In addition, the applicant will be able to demonstrate the correct flight procedures
for maneuvering during show flight, steep turns, emergency descents, and the correct entry and recovery
procedures for stalls.
All stalls and maneuvering during slow flight must be completed no lower than 3,000 feet AGL. The applicant will
also adequately explain the elements of multi-engine aerodynamics, normal operations, maneuvers, and
procedures selected by the instructor.

proficiency level that meets or exceeds the criteria set forth in the multi-engine land sections of the current
Commercial Pilot Practical Test Standards, The night flying maneuvers and adherence to proper procedures,

with touch-down near or at a predetermined area on the runway. The applicant will also demonstrate mastery of

OBJECTIVES:
During this lesson, The applicant will practice the review maneuvers and procedures to maintain or gain
proficiency. The applicant will be introduced to engine-out procedures and, through simulated procedures, will
learn to identify the inoperative engine, initiate appropriate corrective procedures, and maneuver the airplane with
one engine inoperative. The instructor will demonstrate V MC and the recovery technique so the applicant may learn
the significance of this airspeed limitation. The applicant will also be introduced to the decision-making processes
relevant to multi-engine operations with an inoperative engine.

COMPLETION STANDARDS:
At the completion of this lesson, the applicant will be able to maneuver the airplane during level flight with one
engine inoperative, while maintaining altitude 150 feet and heading 15. During engine-out climbs, the
airspeed with be maintained 5 knots of the recommended by the manufacturer. During simulated engine
failures, the applicant will be able to promptly identify the inoperative engine and demonstrate the correct
shutdown and feathering procedures. The applicant will demonstrate the correct procedure for engine failure on
takeoff before VMC and after liftoff. Engine-out approaches and landings will be performed while maintaining
airspeed during final approach 10 knots of, but never below, the correct approach speed. The applicant will
demonstrate understanding of engine-out aerodynamics and operational procedures by thoroughly and
comprehensively explaining elements selected by the instructor.

information, cross-country flight planning, the National Airspace System, pilotage and dead reckoning, navigation
systems, radar services, diversion procedures, and lost procedures by planning and flying a cross-country flight

COMPLETION STANDARDS:
At the completion of this lesson the applicant will demonstrate attitude instrument flight while maintaining altitude
±100 feet and headings ±10o during straight-and level flight. Turns will be performed maintaining altitude ±100
feet and roll-outs to predetermined headings ±10o. Climbs and descents will be performed ±10 knots of the
desired airspeed and level offs will be completed ±100 feet of the assigned altitude.
The applicant will demonstrate the ability to accomplish the required procedures and maneuvers within the limits
specified by the Practical Test Standard.
During engine-out operations, the applicant will be able to readily identify the inoperative engine and simulate
shutdown and feathering while maintaining altitude ±100 feet and headings ±15o. Instrument approaches will be
completed while maintaining the correct approach speed ±15 knots and the initial approach altitude ±150 feet.
Holding patterns will be entered correctly and be ±10 knots of the proper holding airspeed.

COMPLETION STANDARDS:
At the completion of this lesson, the applicant will demonstrate the ability to maintain control of, and safely operate
the airplane solely by reference to instruments during normal all-engine operations and with an engine
inoperative. The applicant will demonstrate basic attitude instrument flight at a proficiency level that meets or
exceeds the criteria specified in the multi-engine sections of the current Commercial Pilot Practical Test
Standards and instrument rating practical test standards. Additionally, the applicant will demonstrate the ability to
perform precision and non-precision approaches while maintaining airspeed ±10 knots and altitude ±100 feet
during the initial approach segment. The applicant will be able to level off at the MDA or DH and conduct
accurate missed approach procedures. If circling approaches are conducted, the applicant will maneuver the
airplane at the MDA in a radius of turn not greater than the visibility minimum for the approach.
