At the completion of this lesson, the applicant will demonstrate the ability to maintain control of, and safely operate
the airplane solely by reference to instruments during normal all-engine operations and with an engine
inoperative. The applicant will demonstrate basic attitude instrument flight at a proficiency level that meets or
exceeds the criteria specified in the multi-engine sections of the current Commercial Pilot Practical Test
Standards and instrument rating practical test standards. Additionally, the applicant will demonstrate the ability to
perform precision and non-precision approaches while maintaining airspeed ±10 knots and altitude ±100 feet
during the initial approach segment. The applicant will be able to level off at the MDA or DH and conduct
accurate missed approach procedures. If circling approaches are conducted, the applicant will maneuver the
airplane at the MDA in a radius of turn not greater than the visibility minimum for the approach.
