SCHEME OF WORK
Form 2, 2021
Notes

In Form 2, the students are being prepared for the IGCSE curriculum.

In NUMBER, they concretise their knowledge of fractions, decimals and percentages and are introduced to the idea of ratio, index form and standard
form. They also build onto their knowledge of approximation.

In ALGEBRA, they revisit formulae, are introduced to opening brackets and further build on equation solving their skill. They extend the idea of
formulae to straight line graphs and the equation of a line.

In GEOMETRY & MEASURE, they build on from areas of rectangles and squares to area of parallelograms, triangles and circles. They are also introduced
to angles in other polygons, transformations as well as Pythagoras’ theorem.

In HANDLING DATA they build onto their knowledge of probability by considering two events. They are also introduced to two other representations of
data- the scatter graph in term 2 and the stem and leaf diagram in term 3 and further develop their ability to make inferences from data.

The exercises in the text book provide opportunities for PROBLEM SOLVING and the blue section (of the textbook) offers opportunities for stretch and
challenge for the more able students.

Calculators are not allowed until term 3. The class set of calculators may be used for topics that call for calculators.

At the end of Form 2, they will carry on as a form and study the IGCSE Core Maths content.

Assessments

Assessments can be taken from past papers in the filing cabinets, Cambridge checkpoint past papers, text books etc. However, they need to be edited
to reflect the topics to be assessed. All common tests need to be approved by all concerned class teachers and the HOD.
