    Final Assignment

    The final assignment is a project entirely of your choosing.

    What should my project be about?

    Examples include:

    1. An interview with someone where you explore something that we have studied in class.
    This may be, for example, someone who has a substance use or mental illness history,
    someone who experiences the world through non-typical development or
    sensation/perception, or someone who has studied psychology/neurobiology.
    2. A piece of artwork or poetry that illustrates your understanding and knowledge about a
    particular aspect of psychology that we have studied.
    3. A book review of a book that is directly related to psychology as we have studied it in
    class, or has a character that you find relevant to a topic in the course.
    4. An opinion piece where you make an argument about one of the topics we have studied
    5. A Wikipedia-type article describing a particular psychological phenomenon.

    Your project really can be about anything, as long as:

    ● You can clearly demonstrate, in your proposal and then in the project itself, how it relates
    to some aspect of psychology as we have studied in class.
    ● You fit it on at least one sheet but NO MORE THAN three sheets of A4 size paper.

    Project Components:
    1. Brief Proposal. Please complete the template on pg 3. This will allow the instructor to
    assess if your idea is suitable for the project and provide feedback. Please use this
    proposal as an opportunity to ask any questions about the assignment.

    2. Presentation. Each student will do a 3-4 minute presentation about their project in front
    of the class. This can contain slides if you would prefer but does not have to. You may
    consider the presentation a verbal form of the proposal that you have submitted. Students
    and instructor will use this presentation to ask questions to understand your project better.

    3. Project itself.

    Project guidelines:

    ● Please use A4 paper with one-inch margins, single-sided.

    ● You are free to draw on personal experiences or interests. Your final product
    should be something you are proud of.
    ● We do not want to see anything in the final project that was on the slides or in the
    textbook/readings.

    Grading criteria

    ● Thoughtful engagement with class material.


    ● Clarity of expression.
    ● Overall quality of work and effort.
