Quite a Project
THE PROJECT CONSISTS OF 2 PARTS: A WRITTEN PROJECT & AN ORAL PRESENTATION:

1. Alone or in a group - make up your mind, whether you want to do the project alone or in a
small group (up to 3 people) and choose your colleagues.

2. Subject - Choose a general area of interest and then narrow it down to one topic. For example:
a. Any subject relating to your art
b. a controversial issue causing opposing opinions and fierce debates (Euthanasia,
Abortion, Cloning, Homeschooling, Women Serving in the Israeli army, Vegetarianism,
Scientific testing on animals for medical purposes, etc.)
c. Any researched subject (Alcohol and drugs, Acupuncture, Road accidents, etc.)

3. Questions - Ask some (2-3) research questions you will answer in your project. For
instance about CLONING, one might ask:
a. What are the benefits of cloning?
b. What are the dangers of cloning? Is it safe?
c. What ethical problems stem from cloning?
d. Is cloning done today? In which countries?

4. Resources - Choose the best resources for your project. These sources will help you
answer the questions you've asked. You should have at least 5 sources, and they can be:
a. Interviews
b. Questionnaires
c. Encyclopedias
d. Internet
e. Newspapers & Magazines

After you've chosen a group, finished choosing a subject, asked the right questions, and found
enough resources, you can start arranging the material and prepare to write down your project.

Pay attention:
● Your subject needs to be approved by me first
● Your progress will be monitored throughout the entire process
● On top of a written project, each one in the group will also have to give a few minutes of
presentation in front of the entire class (in English, of course)

The Project
THE WRITTEN PROJECT
The written project includes:
2

o Cover Page - The headline: FINAL ENGLISH PROJECT, The project's title given by
you, Your name/s and class, The Teacher's name, and The Submission date.

o Table of Contents – includes numbers for each page.

o Introduction/rationale for the choice of topic (About one page)

● Write one paragraph in which you explain what the project is about.
● Write one paragraph about what you already know about the subject you chose.
● Write another paragraph about what you hope to find out/ learn about your subject
and what questions you have about the topic.
● Write another paragraph explaining why you chose to do this subject.
● Write another paragraph explaining exactly how you plan to go about doing the
project.
● All the points above should be incorporated (or written one after the other) in an
essay form.

o The Body - the research - You aim to provide relevant information, background, and
research about the topic you have chosen, and to answer the questions you asked in the
introduction. This part is based on your summaries. (about 4 pages long, minimum 1 page per
research question).

For example – if you decide to write about The Risks and Benefits of Cloning, your body should
contain:
✔ A definition - what is cloning?
✔ A literary review – Where does cloning stand today? How advanced is the process? Is it
doable? Who are the future patients of cloning? etc.
✔ Your research questions – Answer your questions, based on the literary review you've
found: What are the benefits of cloning? Is cloning dangerous? What ethical problems
stem from cloning?
✔ Relevant statistics - Support your answers with statistics, research, and other data.
✔ Include EXAMPLES – For instance, people today clone their dogs in Korea. Is it OK?
Wrong? What do YOU think about it?

o Conclusion: Write a few paragraphs to summarize your work, and present its conclusions in
your own words (answering your research questions and presenting your opinion. You should
include what you have learned from this project, how it has changed or influenced your way of
thinking, and what can be done about this subject - treatments and/or solutions.
(About one page long)

o Reflection (Each member of the group must answer the Reflection part individually)
o Bibliography page – A page that includes the names of your sources as well as a
list of Internet sites you have used in alphabetical order.
3

The Appendix – A part that should include everything that has been written down (drafts
/summaries), the checklists, rubrics, etc).
