Baby sanitary changing stations are everywhere we can see

them at the mall etc. Now a days many of young woman got

pregnant and they struggle change their baby’s diaper, so that's

why we have conduct the Innovation of baby sanitary changing

station to help and to make parents no to struggle by changing

baby’s diaper when it is needed. Baby changing stations provide

parents and caregivers with a safe space to change their very

young children. Changing stations meet the specific needs of

infants and toddlers, with their safety as a top priority. The study

uses the trial and testing method, to test the prototype. This

method consists of several guesses of trial-values for the unknown,

each followed by testing. its validity step-by-step throughout the

CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

Baby sanitary changing station is important most especially

for the mother who brings her baby along with the needs for the

baby’s care. It is already present in areas at transportation terminals,

malls, and even hotels for comfort of the baby as the mother attends

the immediate nursing of the baby. It will help the mother to safely

change diaper and clean the baby during pooping. Parents running

errands, shopping, or eating at a restaurant don’t have time to

investigate which establishments offer baby changing stations in

public washrooms. Caregivers with young children in tow only have

one thing on their minds when they discover a soiled diaper – the

distance to the nearest restroom.

However, those existing baby sanitizing station do not have

water to properly washing after changing that is why the researchers

will conduct an innovation of baby sanitary changing station to for a

more comfort and less hassle of the mother and the baby.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

This chapter presents the literature and related studies which

the researchers consider relevant to the present study. It includes the

in-tensive reading of the researchers form publications like books and

online journals.

Historical Background of Baby Changing Station Source

According to (Cooper 2001) throughout history, sanitation

practices have evolved from place to place and within civilizations.

From the Indus Valley, Mesopotamia, Babylon, and Greek civilizations

to the Western Han Dynasty, domestic sanitation has been continually

explored and innovated, from cesspools to disposal on unpaved streets

and open pits, etc.

(Cooper 2001) Acquiring water and addressing sanitation have

been a continuous challenge. Following positive historical

developments, sanitation implementation, especially in Europe after

the collapse of the Roman Empire, underwent a dark period where the

disposal of waste happened primarily on open streets.

Republic of the Philippines

Parents were impressed with the straightforward addition. Businesses

started to pay attention. Baby changing stations began to appear

everywhere, initially primarily in restaurants, but later expanded to

grocery stores, amusement parks, shopping centers, and theaters.

Facilities that were safe for children gained popularity and even had

an impact on where parents spent more time and money. Businesses

bought tables because they realized that family convenience was now

a big factor in visitors and sales. After that, this led to an increase in

play and child seating products like booster seats.

The public baby changing station's original design, developed by

(Koala Corp 2000)., has not changed much over time: molded from

steel and polyethylene, has rounded edges for safety, and is small,

making it suitable for even small restrooms. According to a 1998

study by the Howell Research Group, nearly seven out of ten parents

shop with their children either all or most of the time. As of today,

these changing stations are now an expected convenience in many

businesses. Because a baby station, like handicapped stalls, is a sign

that a business cares about its customers, large retailers all over the

world are installing them in men's and women's restrooms.

Benefits of Baby Changing Station in Public Facilities

Republic of the Philippines
CAMIGUIN POLYTECHNIC STATE COLLEGE 8
INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Balbagon, Mambajao, Camiguin

(L. Zhang and J. Luo,2009) Public facilities are the equipment

being served for social mass in public places. Some special behavior

such as nursing baby should also be considered in the selection of

public facilities besides common needs such as social mass’s rest,

entertainment and so on.

Baby changing station is the facility being used to meet the

need of adults such as changing baby’s diapers or adding clothes. The

baby changing station can be seen everywhere in public places such

as big airports, hospitals, hotels, malls, restaurant, stations, tourist

sites and so on. The high usage rate illustrates the great convenience

for travelers who are carrying a baby.

According to (Kathryn H. Anthony, 2019) in the study of Baby

Changing Blues: The Problem with Changing Stations are some

diaper-changing stations are located in stalls designated for people

with disabilities, while others are outside the stalls. When families

occupy the accessible stall for purposes of changing diapers, it’s

inaccessible to people with disabilities who may need it. As parenting

responsibilities have become more equitable between genders, there

has been a push to increase male caregiver access to parenting

resources in public spaces, notably DCSs (N. Pandaya and R.

Granberg, 2001). One indicator of societal acceptance could be the

Republic of the Philippines
CAMIGUIN POLYTECHNIC STATE COLLEGE 9
INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Balbagon, Mambajao, Camiguin

availability of diaper changing stations for men in public facilities

(Olson, Pamela N; Stueve, et al. 2007).

Meet children's and caregivers' sanitation needs;

This includes providing and making use of facilities and services

that make it easier for caregivers to change and dispose of dirty

diapers, preventing environmental contamination.

This also means that we will encourage people to wash their

hands with soap after putting diapers in the trash, before handling

food, before eating, and before continuing with daily activities.

Bolsters children's comfort and dignity;

Human rights are based on the principle that human dignity is

fundamental. Children and those who give them should be able to do

so without feeling embarrassed or ashamed. Caregivers will be able to

travel with their children in comfort knowing that they have a place

where they can meet their child's needs without being mocked if baby

changing stations are provided in public areas.

Enhance safe diaper disposal

We are also encouraging caregivers to take care of the

environment by requiring that diapers be disposed of in public areas.

Republic of the Philippines
CAMIGUIN POLYTECHNIC STATE COLLEGE 10
INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Balbagon, Mambajao, Camiguin

When you're dealing with a baby, it's also important to keep in mind

how clean you are.

A sign that a city or restaurant values children and

caregivers The majority of caregivers don't have the luxury of going to

restaurants because most places don't have a place to change their

babies, so they prefer to eat at home.

By providing this facility in a public space, they would

demonstrate that they are at the forefront of making cities child-

friendly and that they care about the requirements of caregivers.

It is a fundamental human right for a caregiver and their

child to be able to easily access a baby changing station, just as

adults can access restrooms in public places.

Caregivers will be able to travel with their children while

going to work or enjoying leisure activities if this is done.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter consists of two sections, the development of the

project and the research design.

The development of the project includes the profile of the

project, supplies and materials needed, tools and equipment use, the

construction procedure and try-out and revision.

The second section includes the research design, the subject of

the study, the instrument used that could be employed to gather

desired information and the statistical analysis.

Development of the Project

A. Profile of the Project

A baby changing station has a platform connected to a wall

structure by a hinge. The platform can be moved between an open

and closed position. A baby changing station that is strong and free

of contamination thanks to the blow-molded parts and the

combination of the platform, wall structure, and a wall portion

geometry is the result of the hinge's interlocking configuration. The

platform is hollow and has a trough that can hold a baby when it's

open. In order to be nested within the platform when closed,

the wall structure is smaller than the platform. The

conventional use of a steel pin or rod to strengthen the hinge

is eliminated by the configuration of the blow-molded hinge.

The present invention's baby changing station has a secure

interface, is simple to clean and maintain, and is less likely

to sustain structural damage. Additionally, there are at least

five stops built into the hinge to stop the platform from

rotating beyond the open position.

This study aims to design, develop and construction of

Innovation of Baby Sanitary Changing Station. The researchers

conducted the study at barangay Pontod, Mahinog, Camiguin

Province. We the researchers visit the repondents house to house. Our

main respondents are the child weight not exceeded to 20 kgs and the

researchers interview the mother of the child. And let them answer

our survey form in order to answer the questions given by the

researchers, and to let them give feedbacks and comments about the

research study, which is entitled INNOVATION OF BABY SANITARY

CHANGING STATION. By selecting the respondents the researchers

used Random sampling method because their are few respondents in

barangay Pontod , who has a child.Simple random sampling is a type

of probability sampling in which the researcher randomly selects a

subset of participants from a population. Each member of the

population has an equal chance of being selected. Data is then
