automatically. Only at no-flow condition the disc returns to its seat, preventing
back flow drip tight. Applications
This offers a one-way flow through the valve. •Municipal, agricultural and industrial use.
The use of swing type check-valves are very important mostly at the outlet of •Liquids with no acidic or alcalic or flammable value.
pumps. •Air pipelines.
It is very important that the disc closes rapidly in pump applications with turn-off
or electricity cut-off, before reversing flow slams the disc back to its seat, inducing
waterhammer other than induced by the rapid velocity change in the pipeline.
Counterweight is added to the check-valve disc stem for that purpose as an option-
al feature.

HYDRAULIC
CONTROL VALVES

HYDRAULIC CONTROL VALVES GENERAL:

Hydraulic Control Valves are used on the purpose of on/off and regulation, utilizing the pressure of the
working fluid flowing through itself as the source of actuating energy.

The mechanical part acting as actuator is a diaphragm or a piston, having an effective area larger than
the port of the valve. This larger actuator area difference produces bigger control forces than required
to close the valve, stopping the flow to the zero-flow condition.

The actuator pressure is adjusted by so called control pilots -sometimes more than one- to control the
valve in any position varying continuously.

According to the type of actuation, the hydraulic control valves are in 3 types of design.
1. Diaphragm Actuated - Diaphragm Controlled Valves ( F pattern )
2. Diaphragm Actuated - Plug Controlled Valves ( Y pattern )
3. Piston Actuated - Plug Controlled Valves ( G pattern ) Diaphragm Actuated
Diaphragm Controlled
F pattern Valves are single chamber valves. They are easy to operate and service on site. However, the Valves ( F pattern )
cavitation resistance is lower when compared to other body pattern designs.

Diaphragm actuator controls the passage mechanically at the same time.

For On/ Off automation applications and at pressure regulation ratios down to 1/ 2.1 ( 0,97 cavitation
index) this type of the valve is the most simple, economical and dependable valve.

The scope of application of F pattern valve is DN50 - DN 350 mm. and PN10-PN16, at Agricultural
Irrigation, Municipal Infrastructures and Fire Fighting Systems.

Y pattern Valves are double chamber valves. They are of the same application schemes as F type valves,
but this time diaphragm actuator and the plug are connected with a stem. Cavitation resistance is
increased by the plug material, seat material and the geometry of the internal walls designed in the body.

They are intended for pressure regulation down to 1/3 ratio, (~0,7 cavitation index).

The scope of application of Y Pattern is DN50 - DN300 mm. and PN10- PN16, Municipal Infrastructure
and Process Control applications.

G pattern Valves are either single or double chamber piston actuated control valves. Diaphragm Actuated
Piston actuator serves in higher pressures, bigger sizes more reliably compared to diaphragm actuators. Plug Controlled Valves
It is the standard type on PN25 and above, DN400 and above. On large actuator areas, since the elasticity ( Y pattern )
of diaphragm on large sizes takes fictive volumes before real mechanical movement, piston actuator is
more sensitive on regulation of big sizes. Besides, there is no tearing risk for the piston as for the risk of
diaphragm of that size. This makes the G valve most reliable one among all types. On small sizes pressure
regulation down to 1/5 ratio is possible. Whereas, above DN300valves, standard low cavitation region
(~0,7 cavitation index) is to be utilized as application limit.

The scope of application is DN50 - DN300 mm. PN25, PN40 , DN400 - DN900mm. PN16 and PN25.

Typical Applications :
- On/off
-Pressure Reducing
- Pressure Sustaining / Relief
- Pump Control
- Surge Anticipating Control Valve
- Solenoid Control ( SCADA and Automation applications )
- Water Level Control ( Modulating and Differential ) Piston Actuated
Plug Controlled Valves
- Combinations of the above .... ( Example : Pump Control Valve with Pressure Sustaining,
( G pattern )
Pressure Reducing Solenoid Valve...)

CONTROL VALVES
TYPE DRF

Type DRF PN 16 Nominal Pressure

Diaphragm Actuated - Diaphragm Controlled Valves (F pattern)
DRF Type valves are used in municipal and agricultural irrigation networks. Basic valve simpy consists of 3 pieces: Body, cover
and the actuating diaphragm.
Valve inside and outside is coated with thermoplastic Nylon11 (RILSAN). This coating enables low frictional loss, silent opera-
tion and higher corrosion and cavitation resistance compared to other coating types.
The special reinforced diaphragm of DRF induces the control valve required balancing spring force by the design and material
details, eliminating the mechanical spring which uneffieciently occupies space and has an abrasive effect on rubber material.
The required spring force is induced by the linear elasticity of the design details.
Elimination of a mechanical spring and the related mechanical parts in the control chamber gives the actuating diaphragm very
long life by eliminating the abrasion caused by metal on rubber friction. Less number of operating body parts increase reliabili-
ty of the valve in long term.
The valve needs virtually no maintanance by this balanced diaphragm, special coating and less moving body parts.

CONTROL VALVES
TYPE DRY

Type DRY PN 16 Nominal Pressure

Diaphragm Actuated Plug Controlled Valves ( Y pattern )
DRY Type valves are used in municipal and agricultural irrigation networks. Diaphragm Actuator set is installed on the body. The balanc-
ing spring is confined in the control chamber rather than in the body compared to competitors. This eliminates the mechanical contact of
spring with the working fluid and the flowing particals and unwanted pieces like cloth or algs that could obstruct the spring and the valve
from operation or increase the headloss.
The Actuator set can be dismantled as a whole from the body for easy servicing on site.
Valve inside and outside is coated with thermoplastic Nylon11 (RILSAN). This coating enables low frictional loss, silent operation and
higher corrosion and cavitation resistance compared to other coating types.
Technological Advantage :
The new farther curved internal walls, the inclined flow stream by the stainless steel seat design, EPDM coated Plug, the option for
V-Port and cavitation/corrosion resistant coating makes the valves life promising longest among all the competitors.

CONTROL VALVES
TYPE DRG

Type DRG PN 16,25,40,64 Nominal Pressure

Piston Actuated Plug Controlled Valves ( G pattern )
G pattern valves are produced in sizes 2” - 36” (DN50 - DN900) and nominal pressures PN 16 upto PN 64.
This type of valve is used on heavy duty, high pressure and big size applications.
The valve is of the highest cavitation resistance design by the pattern “G” among all other types.
DRG responds to demand changes rapidly and accurately by the help of the piston actuator, which is free of fictive volume
caused by the diaphragm elasticity of competitors’ G pattern valves.
Piston makes the valve most reliable by continuing its operation even at aged piston leak. There is no possibility of 100%
breakdown as with the diaphragm actuator in the large size designs of the competitors, which might get torn and breakdown
the valve operation when aged.
Sizes larger than 12” (DN300) have the scope of design and application on Dam Discharge Control Stations, Pressure Reducing
Stations or Municipal main line controls with high corrosion and cavitation resistance with the standard V-Ported guiding seat.

DRF 10 is used to maintain a preset water level in a reservoir or a water tank in a simple, economic manner. The DRF valve is activated by the line
pressure. The DRF10 stays open as long as the water level in the reservoir is below the preset level. As the water level rises and lifts the float, the valve
gradually closes.

DRF 30-33 valves are activated by line pressure. The valves open or close by electric command through a 2 – way or 3 – way pilot solenoid valves.
The solenoid opens or closes the DRF as it is energized by an electric pulse. The electric pulse that commands the valves is generated by a controller,
timer, sensor or an electric control. Basically, the valve is an electric controlled on/off valve.

sensitive to downstream pressure. The pilot’s spring is preset to a desirable reduced pressure. The pilot valve maintains a constant downstream
pressure by gradually opening and closing of the main valve. The pressure is maintained constant regardless of changes in the flow rate.

DRF 88 is used at the pump outlets and adjusted to eliminate hazardous pressure surges typical of water hammer conditions. A water hammer is
caused by an abrupt shutoff of a pump or rapid closure of a main valve, causing a fast propagation of low-pressure front, followed by an extremely
high-pressure back-wave. A series of pressure waves, each one composed of alternating low and high pressure is created within a few seconds. These
surges, depending on the working conditions and design of the system, can exceed 3 times the working pressure and are extremely hazardous.

VALVE LIFE
ESTIMATION

Control Valve Lifetime Estimation with respect to cavitation

Cavitation is a thermodynamic phenomanon and is a physical predictable limit for control valve pressure regulating applications.
Cavitation level occuring in the valve does not change from valve type or brand, only the design resistance of the valve against cavitation differ.
Calculated cavitation index and valves cavitation resistance characterics may help the engineer predicting the overhaul period of a valve.
Basically since the cost of a valve increases as per the cavitation resistance increase of a valve, the right economical valve selection is upto the deign
engineer, as oversafe valve selection will lead in unnecessary investment.
Please note in the estimated valve lifetime chart given below, the cavitation start limit of 1.0 has where all three type of
designs have nearly the same valve lifetime.
On the recommended working conditions limiting case of σ=0.7, the lifetime of valves may be even twice each other. However at σ=1,0, the lifetime of
the valves come very cloe to each other.
The lifetime estimation values given below are a consequence thermodynamic facts that are of water’s pyhsical and chemical properties. The intension
on preparing the chart is just to give an idea to the design engineer. No responsibility may be deduced to the manufacturer.
Physical realization of cavitation and lifetime of the valve may differ from below, as cavitation is not the only criterion to deduce the lifetime of a valve.
Depending upon the quality of the water, partical erosion(abrasion), pitting, installation defects, vibration because of beyond-flow limit operati-
ons, agression of the fluid, the lifetime can differ to be much less.
User should not forget that the figures given below only covers the thermodynamic aspects only.
Important information :
The Cavitation index is not only a function of the pressure difference across the valve, but also a function of how close the downstream pressure to
the vapor saturation pressure is.
As an example, reducing the pressure from 6 bars inlet to 2 bars outlet is not the same as from 9 bars inlet to 5 bars outlet. Even if on 2 cases the
differential pressure is 4 bars, the cavitation index values are different and the damaging effect will be different. This is to say that a control valve
selection consideration does not only include the pressure difference value, but also the downstream pressure value.

DOUBLE CHAMBER AIR VALVE

3 - EFFECT, KINETIC - AUTOMATIC COMBINATION
( Air Discharge, Air Intake, Air Release )
L
This type of air valve is the new-generation design for the well-known “double chamber” air valve.
The 3 functions of traditional double chamber design is conserved, combining thermo-plastic cylindrical
shaped main float for air intake and air discharge fuctions with the stainless steel float for air -release
function.
This gives an advantage on long-term corrosion resistance and longer operatinal lifetime compared
to the competitors’ designs in the market.

Functions:
1. Discharge of air in high volume in the pipe-line to atmosphere during pipe filling. ( Atmospheric
Function)
2. Intake of air in high volume into the pipe line during pipe-line emptying. ( Atmospheric Function )
3. Discharge of low volumes of air preventing them to accumulate and form “air-pockets” during
H

pipe-line operation. ( Pressurized Function )

SINGLE CHAMBER AIR VALVE

4 - EFFECT, KINETIC - AUTOMATIC COMBINATION + ANTI-SHOCK
( Air Discharge, Air Intake, Air Release + Non-Slam Closure)

This type of air valve is the new generation design of combination air valve to compansate for the
pipe-line design and application defects at air discharge criterion. It accomplishes 4 functions in a single
chamber rather than the triple funtion in double chamber design, by limiting the air discharge during
uncontrolled pipe-line filling.

1” - 1 ½” Functions:
1. Discharge of air in high volume in the pipe-line to atmosphere during pipe filling. ( Atmospheric
Function)
2. Intake of air in high volume into the pipe line during pipe-line emptying. ( Atmospheric Function )
3. Discharge of low volumes of air preventing them to accumulate and form “air-pockets” during
pipe-line operation. ( Pressurized Function )
L 4. Limiting of the air flow velocity during disharge when uncontrolled or high velocity pipe-line filling.
This causes an air-cushion in the pipe-line, lowering the approach velocity of water running, reducing
the risk of induced impact (surge) on reduced speed arrival of water ( wet-closure) of the main float.

equipment in factories, warehouses, industrial buildings, residencial buildings, airports, harbors, military
areas, parks and where there is fire risk.
The Hydrant consists of main body, elongation piece and the lower body. Opening and closing is done by a
speical handle, only owned by the authorized persons.
There is a so called “anti-frost” piece on the body. This piece enables the main body to stay dry when not used
by emptying the water to the atmosphere when not pressurized. This helps prevent the body of the valve from
freeze damage.

DKY BREAKABLE FIRE HYDRANT (C Type)

DKY Breakable Fire Hydrants are also intended for fast and direct
water supply of the fire fighters pump trucks and to other equipment
in factories, warehouses, arounds of buildings where fire risk exists
like above ground fire hydrants. Breakable Fire Hydrants’ upper
body will be seperated from main body when side impact breaks the
body at predetermined point with the help of specially designed
fishplates.
If the hydrant is broken at closed position, the plug will maintain its
closed posistion. If the hydrant is broken at opened position, the
upper stem mechanism freed will let the plug change position from
opened to closed with the help of the instantanous flow free on the
C plug for driptight closing.

FIRE
CONTROL VAVES

FIRE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE

Description:
The DRF 80FP combines a unique design and simplicity into a fire protection systems
pressure relief valve.
This diaphragm operated, pilot controlled, hydraulic valve will maintain a constant pressu-
re of the fire-extinguishing network, regardless of flow demand.
Whenever the system pressure rises above preset level, the valve opens and relieves
excess of flow and pressure to the atmosphere, maintaining the system running at a
stable, required pressure.
The DRF 80 FP features “no-spring” diaphragm and controlled by a 2-way, spring-loaded
pilot valve to ensure maximum accuracy of the line pressure and fast reaction.

Operation:
The RAF 80FP is normally installed on-line in a Tee configuration, after the fire pump and
before the system’s check valve. As line pressure exceeds the set point, It shall relief
excess flow and pressure to the sump maintaining the desired system’s preset pressure.
When demand of the fire system drops to a minimum, the Raf 80 FP will maintain fully
open, relieving 100% of the pump’s flow capacity. The check valve will then close, isolating DRF 80FP
the lines from the pump. The pump will shut off safely, avoiding the risk of a surge. As the Fire Pressure Relief Valve
pump shuts off, the relief valve will slowly come to a close.
FIRE PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE
Description:
The DRF 60FP is a diaphragm operated, pilot controlled hydraulic valve to maintain a
constant downstream pressure on the fire-extinguishing network, regardless of flow
demand.
Whenever the system pressure tends to rise above preset level, the valve throttles further
and reduces the excess pressure to the required set value at a stable regulation.
The DRF 60FP features “no-spring” diaphragm and controlled by a 2-way, spring-loaded
pilot valve to ensure maximum accuracy of the line pressure and fast reaction.

Operation:
The DRF 60FP is normally installed in-line, after the fire pump and after the system’s
check valve. As line pressure exceeds the set point, it shall reduce the pumped pressure to
the system’s preset line pressure.
DRF 60FP automatically maintains the outlet “set pressure” (static and residual) constant
regardless of fluctuations in the higher pressure inlet line or varying flow rate.
Different pressure zones are achieved statically from the same high pressure main line.

HYDRANTS

IRRIGATION HYDRANTS GENERAL :

Irrıgation Hydrants are designed and used in agricultural irrigation networks. They
are the inlet port to the farm irrigation system with a compact combination form of
Multi outlet on/off valve, Pressure Regulator, Flow Limiter.
Hydrant types can be classified in two, one being of mechanical closure and one
hydraulic. Former is named with types “A” and “D”, where the latter type is named with
“HSH”
All the hydrant types have an “anti-frost” piece to empty the body for preventing the
hydrant body from cracking during freezing winter
All the outlets include “Flow Limiters” to control and limit the amount of flowrate
through the hydrant, not to exceed the designed rate.
There is a pressure regulator either on each outlet or on the main body of the hydrant
to reduce the high inlet pressure to a well irrigation pressure value.
Flow limiters and the pressure regulators are optional and the value can be ordered
by the customer.
The hydrants are conform to EN14267-1 Irrigation hydrants standard.

HYDRANT TYPE “A”

Mechanical Irrigation Hydrant type “A”

Features and Benefits :
Designed for medium and higher pressure irrigation networks.
1. On/off operation is done by rotating a handwheel attached to the main shaft of the
hydrant mechanically to move the plug at the entrance .
2. Pressure regulation is achieved by individual direct acting pressure regulators on
each outlet. The standard regulator set value is 3.5 bars and The tolerance for regula-
tion is about +%20 with lowered flow.
3.Flow limiting is achieved by individual flow limiter on each outlet. The flow limiter is
well connected to the internal of the outlet and cannot be accessed from outside. It is
an elastomeric element confined in an aluminum cage, reacting to dynamic pressure,
(implying the change in the rate of flow) to contract for limiting the flowrate on a
nearly constant curve.
Until the nominal flowrate value it acts for very low headloss, while increased demand Irrigation
forces the limiter to increase the loss further so as not allow to pass more. Hydrant type ”A”
The tolerance for limitation is about +%20 with increased demand.
The standard flow limiters are manufactured of 5, 6, 7.5,9, 10 l/s nominal values.
4. The “anti-frost” piece empties the body dry, when the hydrant is closed and the
internal pressure drops below 1bar. This operation protects the hydrant body from
freeze on cold sites.
5. Hydrant watermeter is an option for each outlet.
