ABSTRACT
Nepal, a country nestled in the Himalayas, faces unique challenges in meeting its growing
energy demands while ensuring sustainability and environmental conservation. This study
aims to investigate the diverse applications and potential of alternative energy sources in
Nepal, focusing on their role in addressing the nation's energy needs, promoting energy
security, and mitigating the environmental impact of conventional energy sources.
Solar energy, with its abundant potential in Nepal, is examined in terms of its applicability in
various sectors, such as residential, industrial, and agricultural. The research explores the
current state of solar technology adoption, policy incentives, and barriers hindering
widespread implementation.
Wind energy, although at a nascent stage in Nepal, holds promise as a clean and renewable
source. The study investigates the feasibility and challenges of integrating wind power into
the national energy grid, considering factors such as wind patterns, technological
advancements, and economic viability.
Biomass energy, derived from organic materials, plays a crucial role in Nepal's rural areas.
The study examines the sustainable use of biomass for cooking, heating, and electricity
generation, while also addressing the environmental implications and potential
improvements in efficiency.
The research aims to provide insights into the economic, social, and environmental impacts
of alternative energy sources in Nepal. It assesses the potential for job creation, local
community development, and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, the study
explores policy recommendations and strategic measures to facilitate the widespread
adoption of alternative energy sources, considering the unique socio-economic and
geographical characteristics of Nepal.
The findings of this research aim to provide insights for policymakers, energy planners, and
stakeholders in Nepal, assisting them in making informed decisions for a sustainable and
resilient energy future. The study concludes with recommendations for promoting the
widespread adoption of alternative energy sources, addressing challenges, and harnessing the
full potential of renewable energy in Nepal. Ultimately, the goal is to contribute to the
development of a cleaner and more sustainable energy landscape in Nepal, aligned with
global efforts to combat climate change.
