Title: Verification of Ohm’s law and understanding the use of Ammeter.
Objective:
• To learn about the use of Ammeter.
• To verify Ohm’s law with the use of Ammeter.
• To learn about open and short circuit.
• To learn about shunt resistance (low resistance).

Components required/used:
• Wires.
• Resistors.

Equipment required/used:
• Breadboard.
• DC power supply.
• Ammeter.
• Digital multimeter.

Procedure:
1. First of all we took breadboard and made circuit on it.
2. We connected the circuit with voltage source and digital multimeter.
3. Firstly,we set voltage to 1V and measure the current by setting multimeter to DC
ammeter.
4. Then we repeat the process by changing voltage by 1V until we reach 20V.
5. That provided experimental values of current.
6. Then with the help of Ohm’s law we calculate the theoretical values of current.
7. Then we measure the percentage errors in current values.

Results and calculations:

We proved the Ohm’s law (𝑉 = 𝐼𝑅) both theoretically and experimentally. The above
graphs proved that Voltage is directly proportional to current in a closed circuit. The
experimental results were a little not up to the board, but that is to be expected considering
the environment in which we were working. Some of the apparatus was at fault for
example, we had to replace our connecting wires one time, so the experimental values gave
a little deviation from the theoretical ones. In short, one should always check the apparatus
before working with it.

Lessons learnt:
01) We learnt about how to verify Ohm’s law. (Hammas Naveed)
02) We learned how to use a digital multimeter as a DC ammeter. (Arslan Rafique)
03) We learnt how an Ammeter is made with the help of a galvanometer and shunt
resistance. (Bilal Kamran)
04) We learnt about the open and short circuits in this lab. (Bilal Kamran)
