ABSTRACT

For the sake of finding future solutions to potentially unavoidable problems

regarding the TikTok Application uses, and mood regulation of the students

towards information pertaining to some different aspects that involve it is

necessary. This study aimed to determine how useful TikTok may be in mood

regulation among Grade 12 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

(STEM) students of the Senior High School (SHS) in Ilocos Sur National High

School (ISNHS) during the School Year 2022 – 2023. along: (1) profile, (2) Tiktok

Applications of the respondents, and (3) Level of Mood regulation of the

respondents. Inter-correlation between the profile, Tiktok Application, and Level of

Mood Regulations of the students were also included in the research. The

descriptive correlational method of research was employed, and the respondents

were determined through stratified random sampling. The following statistical tools

were used in the analysis of data gathered: frequency, percentage, mean, Analysis

of Variance (ANOVA), and Pearson rxy.

The study revealed the following: (1) On the personal-related factors, both STEM A

and B are dominated by females, mostly live in rural areas, use gadgets for 5–6 hours

a day, use TikTok for 1-2 hours a day, have smartphones, and have mobile data as

their most preferred internet connectivity.

Moreover, (2) the. Grade 12 STEM students agreed that TikTok application

have a positive impact on their mood. However, they are hesitant or on neutral

phase when it comes to communication. Furthermore, (3) The Grade 12 STEM

students have a high level of mood regulation that significantly influences

their mood. Moreover, the students show substantial agreement regarding

information on people who are left dangerously vulnerable towards the application .
ILOCOS SUR NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL – SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Additionally, (4) each five scales of tiktok application and its relationship on

mood regulation yield no significant difference between the STEM A (Socrates,

Confucius, and Thales) and STEM B (Pythagoras , Democritus , and Plato)

students.. Lastly, (5) the TikTok application uses among Grade 12 STEM

students particularly entertainment, communication, interaction, educational purposes,

and social engagement have bearing with frequency of using tiktok application.

Meanwhile, the level of mood regulation among Grade 12 STEM students on

stress reduction, emotional stability, relaxation, excitement, and energizer yield

a relationship with frequency of using tiktok application.

It is therefore recommended for the Grade 12 STEM students that they must

maintain the frequency of using the TikTok application regardless of their

personal related factors. To balance their time management, students ought to utilize

the application wisely. Similarly, regardless of personal factors, students must limit

the amount of time they spend on gadgets in a day, especially if it hinders

academic performance.

Given that the TikTok application improves their mood, Grade 12 STEM

students should utilize it more frequently for communication to enhance

their interpersonal skills. Improved communication skills may enable students

to connect more on TikTok and comprehend other users' content without leading

to misunderstandings.

Future research should be conducted on the other personal related factors

that may affect tiktok application uses and the level of mood regulation among

STEM students such as number of teachers using tiktok application for educational

purposes .
