I. Read the concepts below and answer the TRUE or FALSE.
Concepts about Newton's laws of motion
It describes the relationship between the motion of an object and the forces acting on it.
1. A body remains at rest, or in motion at a constant speed in a straight line, unless acted upon by a force.
2. When a body is acted upon by a net force, the body's acceleration multiplied by its mass is equal to the net force.
3. If two bodies exert forces on each other, these forces have the same magnitude but opposite directions.
TRUE OR FALSE: Write TRUE if the concept is correct and FALSE if the concept is not correct.
1. According to Newton's First Law of Motion, an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an external force.
2. Newton's Second Law of Motion explains the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration.
3. Newton's Third Law of Motion states that the action and reaction forces are always unequal in magnitude and opposite in direction.
II. Each of the items below is best represented by one of the Newton’s Laws of Motion. Write 1 st Law, 2nd Law or 3rd Law for each of the following to indicate
whether it’s Newton’s 1st, 2nd or 3rd Law of Motion.
_______2. When you are standing in a subway train and the train suddenly stops but your body continues to move forward.
_______3. It is harder to slow down or speed up more massive objects if they are moving.
_______4. The firefly hit the bus and the bus hits the firefly.
I. Determine the corresponding word by arranging the letters present as clues. Write your answers in UPPER CASE letters.

Key Concept:
Gravitational potential energy is the energy that an object has by virtue of its position relative to the surface of the earth. This energy
is stored and it can be used at a later time to cause an object to move. The gravitational potential energy of an object is determined by three
factors; the object’s mass, gravity, and height of the object relative to the ground.
Part I. Direction: Study and analyze the picture below and answer the questions that follow. The objects shown are placed on top of the
table.
Mass:
***The heavier the object, the greater the
gravitational potential energy the object has.
***The lighter the object, the lesser the
gravitational potential energy the object has.
Part II. Direction: Study and analyze the picture below and answer the questions that follow.
Height:
***The higher the object is off the ground, the
. greater the gravitational potential energy the
object has.
***The lower the object is off the ground, the lesser
the gravitational potential energy the object has
3. Which point does the ball have the greatest gravitational potential energy? _________
4. Which point does the ball have the least gravitational potential energy? _________
Key Concept:
Kinetic energy is defined as the energy possessed by an object due to its motion. The amount of kinetic energy possesses by an object is
dependent on two factors: mass and velocity.
Part III. Direction: Study and analyze the picture below and answer the questions that follow. Assume that all balls are moving at the same
velocity.
Mass:
***The heavier the object, the greater the
gravitational potential energy the object has.
***The lighter the object, the lesser the
gravitational potential energy the object has.
Velocity:
Since kinetic energy is the energy in motion, the object has to
have kinetic energy.
***The larger the velocity, the greater the kinetic energy.
***The smaller the velocity, the lesser the kinetic energy.
7. Which point does the ball have the greatest kinetic energy? _________
8. Which point does the ball have the least kinetic energy? _________
9. Which point does the ball have the greater kinetic energy, A or E? __________
