4 Setting up

Removing the base plinth (optional)


Your BT Decor 1500 will come with the base plinth
already attached. If you want to use your BT Decor 1500
on a flat surface such as a table or desk then we advise
you to leave the plinth attached.

8 Using your phone


Make and end a call
1. Lift the handset and wait for the dial tone.
2. Dial the telephone number.
3. Replace the handset to end the call.

Last number redial


1. Press Redial . The last number called will be dialled
out automatically.

Switch secrecy on and off


1. During a call, press and release the button.
The button will illuminate to show that secrecy is on.
The Secrecy feature is now in use. You can now talk to
someone in the room without your caller hearing you.
However, you will still be able to hear your caller.
2. Press and release the button again to return to
your caller. The secrecy light will go out.

10 Quickdial memory

Outgoing message (OGM)


This is the message your caller hears when the answering
machine picks up their call. Your BT Decor 1500 comes
with two pre-recorded outgoing messages to choose
from. You can also record your own outgoing messages.

a message for you.

Listening to your messages


When you have received new answering machine messages,
the message counter will show the number of messages
received and the audible message alert beeps will sound.

press 5”. You then have 8 seconds to decide before the

22 Wall mounting

on the underside of the phone to the ‘unlock’ position
and unclip.
3. Drill 2 holes with a 5mm drill for the screws provided,
using the template on the inside back page.
4. Insert the wall plugs provided and then insert a screw
into each hole. Leave a gap between the head of the
screw and the wall (approx. 9mm).
5. Position the product onto the screws.
6. Drop down to secure into place.

Phone does not ring


Check that the telephone line cord is correctly connected.
Check that the Ringer is not set to ‘Off’, see page 9.

Your caller cannot hear you


Is the Secrecy light on? If so, secrecy is switched on. Press the button to speak
to your caller again.

You cannot access remotely


Make sure that the telephone you are using to access your BT Decor 1500 has
a TouchTone™ keypad.
When entering your code, make sure you allow enough time, at least 2 seconds,
between digits for your BT Decor 1500 to recognise each one.

Buzzing noise on answer machine


Your answering machine is too close to a radio, TV, computer, cordless or mobile
telephone, causing interference. Move it another metre away.

No OGM
You may have accidentally pressed the OGM button for too long when checking your
outgoing message, and recorded a short silent outgoing message. Re-record your
outgoing message, which will allow you to delete it if you wish, or re-instate the
pre-recorded outgoing message.
