A. Introductory 1. The teacher give an overview about the Napkin Folding.
Activity
( 3 minutes) a. Discuss the step by step process of table napkin folding.
b. Demonstrate the table napkin folding in front of students.
Teacher: Good morning class before we start our discussions let’s have a recap
on our last topic. Anybody who can share your knowledge gain of our last
discussions?
Student: Ma’am?
Teacher: Yes Kindly stand up and answer.
Student: Ma’am it is about the Phone call reservations.
Teacher: Very Good!!! Anyone can give me an example of What the important
details in phone call reservations?
Student: rose, Name, Address and phone number.
Teacher : Very good and now let’s proceed to table napkin folding.

Table Napkin folding is a type of decorative folding done with a


napkin. It can be done as art or as a hobby. Napkin folding is most
commonly encountered as a table decoration in fancy restaurants.
Typically, and for best results, a clean, pressed, and starched
square cloth (linen or cotton) napkin is used.

The ultimately the purpose of a napkin:

Napkins, or serviettes, are the final decorative touch on the table setting
and they are used to wipe the mouth or protect clothing.

The main purpose of table napkin in table setting:


As the objective of creating a beautiful napkin fold is to enhance your
table presentation and create a harmonious atmosphere. Your dining
room is better served by the use of the correct style and size of napkin
fold, and the right colour in respect of the room décor.

Benefits of Table Napkin Folding:


Napkin folding is usually considered only when setting a formal table or
for a fancy party. But it can be a fun, creative outlet. It can also keep
children entertained while others finish getting the meal ready.
(Homemade place cards can also serve a similar purpose.)

History of Table Napkin Folding:


The folded napkins started as an aristocratic phenomenon and finished
with the guillotining of aristocrats during the French Revolution.
The first Napkin folding during 18th century, it become a status symbol
during that time. Li Tre Trattati – the first book of table napkin
set up written by German-born Matthia Giegher. It is not purely
clothe folds but a combinations of crochet and napkin folds. Joan
Sallas the first man on earth do the table Napkin folding. And his
life story was written by Matthia Giegher. Li Tre Trattati was
published in 1629 and its second edition was on 1639. Artist Joan
Sallas co-created a history of napkin art in the book The Beauty of
the Fold, says the change from "folded cloth to folded art" occurred
in 16th century Florence, Italy. It had become fashionable for the
wealthy to wear voluminous clothing and ballooned sleeves. That
bigger and more extravagant thinking soon spread to table linens,
too. Napkins became bigger and bigger and, instead of putting a
big pile of cloth like a bed sheet on the plate in front of guests.
