Operation
With the key in the "System Normal" position, the green LED will be lit and the release circuit will be
connected to the electrical actuator head of the extinguishing agent. Turning the key to the "Releasing
Circuit Disabled" position turns off the green LED and lights the amber LED while disconnecting the release
circuit from the electrical actuator head of the extinguishing agent. This allows to doing the maintenance
working safely.
· The green LED indicates the RCDS-2 is in the normal condition and the release circuit is enabled.
· The amber LED indicates that the release circuit is disabled.
Engineering specifications
The Releasing Circuit Disable Switch, RCD5-2, shall be capable of switching the release output of a
release panel to either a system normal (system under service) or releasing circuit disabled (system
disabled).
The unit shall consist of a DPDT key operated switch rated for 1 Amp at 40 VDC mounted to a stainless
steel faceplate with green and amber LEDs:
· The green LED shall be labeled "System Normal" and shall only light when the key is in the main
position (system under service).
· The amber LED shall be labeled "Releasing Circuit Disabled" and shall only light when the switch is
in the secondary position (system disabled).
The Key shall be removable in either position. The unit shall be designed to mount on a standard single
gang enclosure.
Installation instructions
To install this Releasing circuit disable switch, the next instructions must be followed:
· Connect the red and black leads to the 24 VDC power terminals on the Fire Alarm Control Panel.
Be certain to observe polarity. Black in the negative terminal and Red in the positive terminal on the
FACP.
· Connect the yellow wires of the RCDS-2 to the supervisory zone on the release panel.

The End Of Line diode is installed between the Releasing Circuit Disable Switch and the Re-assembled
Electrical Actuator. For install the EOL diode, follow the diagram in the respective chapter of the RCDS-2 of
this document or follow the instructions below:
1. Connect the orange wires from the Release Circuit Disable Switch (RCDS-2) to the negative terminal
of the EOL diode.
2. Connect the positive terminal with a cable to the Re-assembled Electrical Actuator. The other terminal
of the Re-assembled Electrical Actuator is connected to the positive terminal of the Fire Alarm Control
Panel.
3. Connect the gray wires from the Releasing Circuit Disable Switch to the EOL diode. Be certain to
observe polarity.
