    (a) Abilities are a set of characteristics that we are born with that
    determine whether we can perform skills successfully. Skill is the
    learned ability to bring about pre-determined results with the
    minimum outlay of time or effort or both. Ability is an innate
    characteristic, but skills are learned

    (b) A basketball or netball player requires different abilities to perform


    the various skills involved. The skill of shooting requires different
    abilities from the skill of passing.
