    This debate grading rubric evaluates student debates based on four criteria: organization and clarity, use of argument, use of rebuttal and refutation, and presentation style. For each criterion, teams can earn a score of 1 to 4, with 4 being the highest. A score of 4 is for completely clear organization, very strong and persuasive arguments given throughout, excellent rebuttal and refutation, and convincing use of all style features. A score of 1 is for unclear and disorganized presentation, few or no real arguments, poor rebuttal and failure to defend positions, and very few style features used. The rubric is used to provide a total score for both the affirmative and negative debate teams.
