Consignment notes are issued by specially licensed waste disposal companies to any premises
where they are contracted to collect and dispose of hazardous or special waste. Both the
developer and fixer solutions are considered as SPECIAL WASTE.
Both the developer and fixer solutions are considered as SPECIAL WASTE,
as they give off powerful fumes that can be inhaled and which irritate the
respiratory system. They require separate storage as waste products, and
must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner by specialist
waste contractors.
‘Special’ and hazardous waste is kept in special containers and collected by an authorised
contractor and relevant records kept. Chemicals cannot be disposed of via the sewers without
written permission from the appropriate water company.
