Secretary Francisco Duque III on Tuesday
urged other government agencies, local
government units, schools and communities
to conduct the “4-o’clock habit paradeng-get
out!” vector control program, which aims to
search and destroy mosquito breeding sites.
“Starting today, the Department of Health
together with other government agencies,
LGUs, schools, offices, and communities will
conduct the Sabayang 4-o’clock habit
paradeng-get out, focusing on search and
destroy of mosquito breeding sites. This is
one of the primary interventions to prevent
and control dengue,” Duque said. The “4-
o’clock habit” is a strategy that seeks to raise
awareness and encourage the community to
do its share and take time to weed out
dengue breeding sites at 4 p.m. every day. It
has been known that mosquitos carrying the
disease are most active at dusk around this
time and religiously exercising this
intervention is key to reducing the risk of
dengue.

smart and are easily trained for zoo and

Opinion- Opinion is a statement that expresses
one’s ideas, feelings, beliefs, likes or dislikes.
Fact is an idea that can be verified with
evidence.

Kids, I have something for you.
What is this?

Plant Ma’am
Yes this is a plant.
Plants are example of living things.
Do you agree with that? Is that true?
I will show you more of my plants. For me
planting plants are fun. Do you love collecting
plants too?
Let us compare the two sentences.
1. Plants are example of living things.
2. For me, collecting plants is fun. Which
statement is a fact? Which is an opinion? - Sentence number 1 is a fact.
You are right! sentence number 1 is an
example of a (FACT) - Sentence number 2 is an opinion
While sentence number 2 is an example of
an opinion.

How did you know? What expression was


used in an opinion? How about in a fact?
Today we will find out how to provide
evidence to support fact and opinion. But
before that I have here an activity for you to
answer.
First let us find out what is an opinion?
Opinion is a statement that expresses one’s
ideas, feelings, beliefs, likes or dislikes. When
you express your opinion, you state how you feel
and think about something. It is your decision
whether to believe or not.

When starting a personal opinion, starts with


these expression.

My attitude towards that is…


I guess…
I suppose…
I believe…
Personally speaking…
Probably…
I think…
I feel that…
Perhaps…
Maybe…
As far as I’m concerned…
To my mind...

Example: Dogs are the best pet among animals.

This statement is an opinion because not all the


people believe that dogs as the best pets. Others
believe that cats, birds and other animals are the
best.

Did you get it? Now, what is a fact?

A fact is an idea that can be verified with


evidence.
It is something that is true and tells what actually
happened. We can’t change the fact.

Here are the clues to prove whether the


statement is a fact..
 time and dates
 historical events
 numbers and statistics
 scientific data
 names and places
 references
 documents

Example:
The sun is a center of the solar system.
It is a fact. We can prove it through scientific
data and other references.

And now this time let us have an activity.

Direction: Draw a happy face if the statement is


fact and a sad face if it expresses an opinion.

Very good! Always remember that fact can
beproven. It is mostly historical, includes dates,
time and scientific data. While oinion is just a
belief. It cannot be prove because there is no
concrete evidence.
