IKEA has developed several data warehouses over the last 10 years. The last attempt was back in

Description
BDW (Banking Data warehouse) is a solution architecture defined by IBM with detailed banking business
content that can be applied broadly to many different types of initiatives. This is in co-ordinance with
the Financial Services data model (FSDM) and nine-data concepts defined by IBM. M1 tool provides the
logical model for banking data warehouse.
The project was to create a product which deals with commonly used attributes and measures in
banking and seamlessly integrated with financial institution’s existing framework to provide out-of-the-
box data warehouse.
BDW is integrating the logical model into a Physical dimensional model and finally the physical data
warehouse is loaded using target based ETL approach Target Based ETL allows to build components.
Independent of source systems and leverage these components across ALL sources. The three basic
components of the Target Based ETL Approach are Target Data Integration Models, Subject Area Data
Integration Models and Source System Data Integration Models. The entire logical model is divided into
different subject areas like classification, Involved Party, Arrangement, Exposure, collateral and
guarantee, obligor etc.
