ABSTRACT

The ABM strand focuses on the basic concepts of business

management, financial management, and all things that are being accounted.

It leads students to careers on management, accounting, and

entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is defined as the capacity and willingness

to develop, organize and manage a business venture in order to make a profit

even if there are any risks to encounter. The one who runs the business is

called Entrepreneur, anyone can be an entrepreneur as long as they know

how to run a business or if not, they are ready to deal with the circumstances

or challenges that will arise in a business to be an entrepreneur, there are

skills that must possess.

This study examined the entrepreneurial potentials of selected ABM

students from Novaliches High School. The researchers employed the

quantitative method of research and correlational research. Random sampling

Senior High School

was used to select respondents from grade 11 and 12 ABM students of

Novaliches High School. Using the Slovin's formula, the researchers came up

with the total of thirty-seven (37) respondents.

The researchers used the survey questionnaire and hypothesis testing

to gather the needed information. The questionnaire includes the profile of the

respondents, entrepreneurial potentials and skills, and the significant

difference between entrepreneurial potentials and skills possessed by the

respondents.

The results showed that all respondents from ABM Strand does not

have entrepreneurial potentials, but most of them has the skills to become an

entrepreneur. The researchers proven that the entrepreneurial potentials and

skills is not significant that was resulted to accept the hypothesis.

Research Design

The researchers employed the quantitative method of research.

According to SIS International Research (2018) Quantitative research is a

structured way of collecting and analyzing data obtained from different

sources. Quantitative research involves the use of computational, statistical,

and mathematical tools to derive results. It is conclusive in its purpose as it

tries to quantify the problem and understand how prevalent it is by looking for

projectable results to a larger population. The researchers also used

Correlational Research. According to University of Minnesota, Research

Methods in Psychology (2018), Correlational research is a type of non-

experimental research in which the researcher measures two variables and

assesses the statistical relationship (i.e., the correlation) between them with

little or no effort to control extraneous variables. There are essentially two

reasons that researchers interested in statistical relationships between

variables would choose to conduct a correlational study rather than an

experiment.

The present study hoped to reveal the assessment of entrepreneurial

potentials of selected ABM students to serve as inspiration and guide to those

who will take the same strand.

Respondents of the Study

The researchers considered the selected 37 grade 11 and 12 ABM

students, male and female, of Novaliches High School. The researchers

decided to have this number of populations to get more accurate information

about their entrepreneurial potentials using the Slovin’s formula.

Summary of Findings

The following summarizes the findings of the study:

1. On the Profile of the Respondents

a. Twenty-seven (27) or 73 percent of the respondents are

female.

b. Twenty-two (22) or 59 percent of the mother of the

respondents does not have occupation.

c. Fifteen (15) or 41 percent of the respondents’ father are self-

employed.

d. Nineteen (19) or 51 percent of the parent’s combined monthly

income of the respondents belong to the bracket of 10,000 and

below.

2. On the Respondents as to Entrepreneurial Potentials

a. Thirty-seven (37) or 100 percent of the respondents falls

under “Below Average” to have the potential to become an

entrepreneur.

b. No one of the respondents reached the “Average” and “Above

Average” category to become an entrepreneur.

3. On the Respondents as to Entrepreneurial Skills

xiv
NOVALICHES HIGH SCHOOL
Senior High School

a. Thirty-four (34) or 92 percent of the respondents have the

skills to become entrepreneur.

b. Two (2) or 5 percent have the skills to be a visionary.

c. One (1) or 3 percent of the respondents might become an

administrator.

d. No one of the respondents has the skills to be an exploit.

4. On the Significant Relationship between Entrepreneurial

Potentials and Entrepreneurial Skills Possessed by the

Respondents

a. There is no significant relationship between entrepreneurial

potentials and entrepreneurial skills possessed by the respondents.

Conclusions

Based on the summary of findings, the following conclusions are dawn:

1. Most of the respondents are female. It concludes that majority

of ABM strand are female students because they are more into

business than male.

2. All respondents fall under “Below Average” category. It just

concludes that because of their young age, they did not yet encounter

their potentials to become an entrepreneur.

xv

3. Majority of the respondents have the skills to become an

entrepreneur. Therefore, they must use it to enhance their potentials to

become one.

4. There is no substantial similarity between these respondents’

entrepreneurial potentials and their skills that results to the approval of their

own hypothesis.

Recommendations

Based on the summary of findings and conclusions drawn, the following

recommendations were offered:

1. The students must hone their entrepreneurial skills for them to

be able to have a unique business in the future.

2. Students must study what it takes to be an entrepreneur for

them to be able to fully understand how to handle or manage a

business.

3. The students must know if they have the capability to be an

entrepreneur to help them determine what they can do in order to

develop into a “full- pledge” entrepreneur.

4. Future researchers should conduct further studies about

assessing entrepreneurial potentials and correlate said variable with

other variables.
