B. Development of the Lesson

Teacher Learners

In every speech you want to be able to speak

and to be understood. These are the basic
elements of communication.

Although these basic communication activities

are identical for every speech, different
speeches serve different purposes. Although
every speech is unique in its own way, public
speeches are ordinarily place in one of three
categories:

 Informative
 Persuasive
 Narrative/Demonstrative

Let us now identify what is an Informative

Speech?

Does anyone have an idea what informative Sir, Informative speech is a kind of speech
speech is all about? that gives information to the listeners or to
the audience.

Very good!

Informative Speech – are simply speeches that

are designed to relay information on a particular
topic. The most common type of informative
speech is a lecture and as a student you are
likely to hear lectures very frequently.

 Inform,
 Provides knowledge, especially
interesting information
 As a speaker, your aim is to help
audience understand the topic to allow
them to make an audience choice.
 When you want to educate your audience
about a certain topic, you’ll probably opt
to create an informative speech. An
informative speech’s purpose is to
simplify complex theories into simpler,
easier-to-digest and less ambiguous
ideas; in other words, conveying
information accurately.
 An informative speech simply gives an
audience certain information and leaves it
up them what to do with the information.

Ex. Reports, lectures, demonstrations

Sir, the main purpose of a persuasive

Does anyone have an idea what is persuasive speech is to persuade your audience
speech is all about?

That’s right! Very good

related to a topic, but the purpose of the speech
is more than providing information about a topic.
In a persuasive speech, you are articulating and
trying to persuade them that your opinion is Students will share their answers.
correct.

 Persuasive speech are where all the

magic happens. A speech is said to be
persuasive if the speaker is trying to
prove why his or her point of view is right,
and by extension, persuade the audience
to embrace that point of view.
 An effective persuasive public speech will
communication not only your opinion to
the audience supports the opinion that
you hold. When you communicate this
information in the form of evidence, you
will be able to convince your audience.

Does anyone have an idea what is narrative

speech is all about?

Narrative Speech – is used to tell a story, often

one that is based on personal experience. As
with a narrative speech, a narrative speech
should include a clear opening, middle and
conclusion, and an important part of the speech
is the signal that one of these sections is
beginning.

 To give a good narrative speech, one that

fully engages our audience we need
to: choose a meaningful story with
strong characters they can relate to in
a situation they'll recognize and identify
with. Use vivid language enabling them to
easily picture and feel what's happening.
 Some of the popular examples of
narrative writing include essays, fairy Sir, narrative speech is just like you are
tales, autobiographies and news telling a story base from your personal
stories. experiences.

Entertainment Speech: Entertaining speeches

are speeches designed to captivate an None Sir
audience's attention and regale or amuse them
while delivering a clear message. Speakers
engage in entertaining speeches generally at special
occasions (e.g., weddings, funerals) or are asked to
deliver a keynote address.

That ends our discussion.
