Important information for Candidates regarding


Admission for the session-2023
The candidates who have passed their qualifying examination
under Choice Based Credit System Scheme are eligible/can apply
for admission to the PG Programme/s for the session-2023 only in
such subjects where he/she has earned/obtained at least 24 Core
credits as Core or Generic Elective Courses at Under-Graduation
Level in the concerned/allied subject, whoever is applicable.
However, for the courses/programmes where there is open
eligibility like LL.B, MA Mass Communication & Journalism, MA
Library & Information Science, MA Linguistics, MA Anthropology,
MA Social Work etc., the candidates having passed their
qualifying examination in any discipline are eligible/can apply for
admission to said programmes.
Moreover, there is no change in the eligibility criteria in respect
of candidates having passed their graduation under non choice
based credit system scheme in annual/semester scheme.

Herbarium for pursuit of their research work.
 Over the years, the Centre is unfailingly providing scientific nomenclature and
identification services to hundreds of research scholars and scientists from other
departments of this University, and the various departments of J&K Government,
particularly, SKUAST (K), Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry, Forests,
Environment, Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Sericulture, LAWDA etc.

Shaikh-ul-Aalam Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies (SACMS) is an
interdisciplinary research centre that promotes research and scholarship across
Humanities and Social Sciences with special focus on Kashmir history and culture,
Sufism, Islam, Comparative Religion, Literary Studies, etc. To facilitate these
academic activities the Centre offers Elective Courses (Generic and Open Elective)
to Post Graduate students, besides admitting students to its Ph.D degree programme.
The Centre also conducts regular seminars, conferences, research workshops and
extension lectures. As part of its outreach programme, the Centre seeks to network
with other institutions of repute both in India and abroad. Aside from these
initiatives, the Centre carries out research on the life and thought of Shaikh-ul
Aalam (RA) under the auspices of the Shaikh-ul-Aalam Chair. Besides the above,
SACMS publishes The “Alamdar” a multilingual journal on various aspects of
Kashmir Society and culture, annually.The centre is also engaged in translating and
publishing various Rishinamas with the objective of disseminating the message of
Shaikh al-„Alam (RA) to the wider audience Aside from these activities, the centre
frequently publishes academic volumes on multidimensional aspect of the life and
thought of Shaikh al-„Alam (RA).

 To explore the socio-cultural and religio-spiritual dimensions of the rich
heritage of Kashmir in profound ways with special reference to the Rishi
