Express meaning in functional written texts and simple short essays in the form of
narrative and report to interact in the context of everyday life.
B. BASIC COMPETENCY
Express the meaning and rhetoric steps in a simple short essay by using a variety of
written language accurately, fluently, and acceptably to interact in everyday contexts in
narrative texts and reports.

C. LEARNING OBJECTIVE

The purpose of learning this material is that students are expected to be able to :

1. Identify the linguistic elements in the Simple Past Tense.


2. Identify the structure of the text about past events.
3. Make simple sentences using the Simple Past Tense.

a. Definition of Simple Past Tense

Simple past tense is the tenses that used to express an action in the past.

Subject + V2 + Object + Time reference
Past : Past form (V2)
cooked (from V1“cook”)
ate (from V1“eat”)
Went (from V1 “go”)
Drank (from V1 “drink”)
Example: I went with Ben two days ago
The formula:
