Answer Round 2
If
you can let me have the version number, and the reference to the manual about this
then that would be great. This is to answer the first question from reviewer 1: “what
numerical code is used, there is no word on this, did you develop it yourself?” We
need something like: Fluent version ??.??, and then give the reference to the Fluent
manual explaining that.
Analysis proceed using ANSYS computational fluid dynamics products Fluent 2022
version.
Reference: ANSYS for researcher. Ansys CFD-Post User’s Guide. ANSYS, Inc. 2022.
2. The full reference to the Maxsurf software (including version number) for the
geometric modelling. Again, we need to quote the version number, and a reference to
the manual would be a good way of doing this.
3.1. The boundary conditions used in this analysis are boxes that are set 2 times
larger than the ITTC provisions. Boundary conditions are regulated by providing a name
selection feature to set the inlet, outlet, wall, and body of the submarine. There are two
meshing techniques used in this final project, namely the body of influence technique and
element sizing. Body of influence is a technique where the element size of a domain is
affected by the domain that intersects with that domain so that the domains that are far from
the model have relatively larger element sizes than the domains that are near the model.
3.2. The size difference transition is the influence of the body of influence mesh
technique. The use of this technique is very useful for knowing the area you want to identify
and is suitable for viewing wakes that occur around the surface of a submarine.
4. We need to add a body fixed axis to figure 4. This is the same axis as in figure 1 with
the origin at the aft end of the body, the x axis forward and the z axis downwards. Can
you please add this to the figure, and remove the earth fixed axis which you added at the
bottom right-hand side of this?
x
5. Reviewer 3 requires the values of the viscous resistance to be given separately from
the total resistance for each case. Are you please able to provide me with the viscous
resistance coefficient for each case? I’ll add that into the results, and put in some
discussion about it.
