ACTIVITY 2

WRITING CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Objectives:
To write the Summary of Findings, draw logical Conclusions and make practical Recommendations.

Directions:
Presented in the box is actual research conducted in Manila. Analyze the paragraphs carefully and perform the
following:
a. Write the missing sub-title
b) Create your conclusions and recommendations based on the findings for each statement of the problem.

Chapter 5
Summary of Findings, Conclusions and Recommendations

Subtitle:

From the analysis of data, the findings were as follows:

1. Status of the Flood Control Projects in the two congressional districts of Manila.
There were more than 52 flood control projects and activities undertaken in the District of Tondo by the
Department of Public Works and Highways, 74.28% of its total projects for Metro Manila as compared to 18
projects for the District of Sta. Cruz which is 25.72%.

2. Assessment of the parents, teachers, and students in the Districts of Tondo and Sta. Cruz, Manila regarding the flood
situation:
2.1. Based on results, the three groups of respondents indicated that the floods in the two districts were
caused by residents throwing garbage in the canals and water outlets. The canals are not well maintained
and cleaned, and the uncollected garbage causes the clogging of the sewerage and streets. The situation is
worsened because these districts belong to lowlying areas of Manila City. There is also the lack of flood control
campaign and commitment among residents.

2.2. In the study, the three groups of respondents in the two congressional Districts of Manila manifested
that, oftentimes, the school children are forced to get absent from their classes and are obliged to have
remedial or make-up lessons when there are floods. And due to suspension of classes, make up classes should
be done.

3. School assistance in promoting the flood campaign program as perceived by the three groups of respondents: The
respondents strongly agreed to the three major flood control campaign programs, which include:

(1) integration/inclusion of flood control concepts in Social Studies/Sibika, Science and Health, and Physical
Education subjects as units of study;

(2) orientations to be conducted by teachers and school officials as early as first week of the school year in every
class, and

(3) putting up billboards on flood control campaign in strategic places, posters in every house and in school,
educating the people on the causes of floods, the frequency of occurrence and effects on the lives of the people
in the community.

4. Significant differences in the assessment of the three groups of respondents regarding the flood situation.

No significant differences were noted among the respondents’ assessment on the rate of flood occurrence as
supported by the chi-square values which were much lower than the tabular value of 33.924 and 22 degrees of
freedom at .05 level.
CONCLUSIONS:
Based on the data presented and interpreted above, create your logical conclusions.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
From your conclusions, construct practical recommendations.
