(iii) Find the value of x and y for which the cost C is minimum.

38. Given three identical boxes A, B and C, each containing two coins. In box A both
are gold coins and in box B both are silver coins. In box C one is gold and the other
is silver. One box is chosen at random and a coin is drawn from that box.

Based on the above information, answer the following.


(i) Find the total probability of getting a gold coin.
(ii) If the chosen coin is gold, find the probability that the other coin in the
box is gold.
