• Identify and discuss at least three emerging trends that

will shape the future of manufacturing processes.

1. Automation and robotics: The increasing integration of automation and robots is one
of the most important new developments in production. Manufacturing is being
transformed by advances in robotics technology, such as artificial intelligence (AI)
and machine learning.

2. Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing): Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D

printing, is a revolutionary new industrial technique. This method allows for the
production of small, sophisticated, custom-made products with less waste and faster
turnaround times.

3. IoT (Internet of Things) and IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things): The growth of IoT
and IIoT devices is altering manufacturing by connecting devices, sensors, and
systems in real time to enable data collection and analysis. This link boosts
operational efficiency, predictability, quality control, and supply chain management.

• Explain how each trend will impact the manufacturing

industry and provide specific examples.

Collaborative robots, or cobots, are becoming increasingly popular on construction

sites. These robots can collaborate with humans, assisting them with repetitious or physically
demanding jobs. Tasks are readily scheduled and reorganised, allowing for more flexibility
and responsiveness to changing production requirements. Automation and robotics offer
numerous benefits such as increased productivity, improved precision, reduced labor costs,
and enhanced workplace safety.
Meanwhile,3D printing is becoming more popular in industries such as aerospace,
automotive, healthcare, and consumer goods. In aerospace, for example, 3D printing enables
lighter, more robust items that boost efficiency. It enables the design and development of
complicated geometries that were previously unattainable using traditional production
procedures. It has the potential to disrupt traditional manufacturing methods and supply
chains.
Next,IoT devices installed in machines and processes can measure temperature,
pressure, vibration, and energy consumption. To discover patterns, optimise programmes, and
predict maintenance needs, this data can be analysed using advanced analytics and AI
algorithms. This connectivity enhances operational efficiency, predictive maintenance,
quality control, and supply chain management.
• Based on your analysis, what recommendations would
you make to companies to prepare for these trends?

We would like to ask companies to devote resources for R&D in order to keep up with
the newest technical breakthroughs. This will assist them in identifying and comprehending
possible automation, robotics, additive manufacturing, and IoT applications in specific
industries and processes.
Besides that, companies should conducting technical assessments. It is done so that businesses
must examine their present product lines and find places where emerging items can add
considerable value. This examination should take into account factors such as performance,
quality, customisation, cost reduction, and safety. Companies will prioritise the installation of
appropriate technologies based on the assessment.
Lastly,we would like to encourage an innovative culture.By encouraging staff to
accept and experiment with new technology, training programmes, workshops, and joint
projects can help with this. Companies may empower their staff to find opportunities for
process improvement and adapt to the changing manufacturing environment by cultivating an
innovative culture.
