(LUPAD, 2016) Learn about why Mindanao is referred to as the "Land of Promise" because it

possesses abundant natural resources and biodiversity that could contribute to the Philippines

becoming a prosperous nation. According to (Rough Guides, 2023) There are lots of activities in

Mindanao, whether you want to surf and relax or do something more daring. Most tourists head

straight towards the little island of Camiguin in North Mindanao, where there is the most tourist

activity due to its relative safety and accessibility. Northeast Mindanao offers abundant offshore

islands and ecotourism opportunities elsewhere. Highlights include the stunning Enchanted

River, the antique wooden boat found in Butuan, and the popular tourist and surfing destination

of Siargao. The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), which

includes a large portion of western Mindanao, has a significant tourism potential but is now

experiencing unstable security conditions. Before considering a visit, research the current state of

security.

(Klook, 2022) The Philippines' Mindanao region is known for its abundant and vast agricultural

fields as well as its vibrant marine life. Mindanao, the country's second-largest island group after

Luzon, has a wealth of undiscovered and underappreciated treasures just waiting to be

discovered. As a result, there are several untouched forests, mountains, beaches, and even

caverns in the area. Yes, it's a heaven for those with a spirit of adventure! Many hikers also took

pleasure in spelunking in the area of Mindanao, which is also home to some of the tallest and

most legendary mountains in the nation.

(WayPH, n.d) Mindanao would undoubtedly disprove your assumption that Luzon and Visayas

are the only Philippine regions with the best-looking tourist attractions. There are a number of

beautiful locations in the Southern Philippines' outer reaches that are just waiting to be explored.

Discover why many adventure travelers have fallen in love with Mindanao by allowing yourself

to be charmed by the breathtaking tourist destinations there. There are five Amazing Destinations

in Mindanao, first is Siargao in Surigao del Norte. Siargao is known as one of the top surfing

locations in the Philippines, but it also has a lot more to offer, attracting visitors from all walks of

life. Siargao is beloved for its immaculate beaches, diverse marine life, and tranquil atmosphere

in addition to being a surfing haven. Cloud 9, Magpupungko Rock Pools, Sugba Lagoon and

Naked Island are the top tourist spots in Siargao. Next is Camiguin Island which offers you an

impression of how popular its key attractions are in some way. White Island, a long length of

white sandbar encircled by crystal-clear, blue seas, is a famous feature of Camiguin. In addition,

Catarman Church Ruins, Sunken Cemetery, Katibawasan Falls, and a variety of hot and cold

springs are well-known in Camiguin. White Island, Katibawasan Falls, Sunken Cemetery,

Ardent Hot Springs, Mantigue Island, Old Spanish Church Ruins and Tangub Hot Spring are the

top tourist spots in Camiguin. One of the other assets in Mindanao when it comes to tourist spots

is the Tinuy-An Falls that is located in Bislig, Surigao del Sur. Tinuy-An Falls is the world-

renowned Niagra Falls. Due to a lot of terrible images, many travelers might decide against

visiting Cotabato City, however for those with brave spirits, this city has more to offer than

simply its tarnished reputation. The Bollkiah Mosque, regarded as one of the masterpieces of

Islamic architecture, is currently a popular tourist destination in Cotabato City. The Grand

Mosque, which is located in Barangay Kalangan II and is known as the largest mosque in the
Philippines, is named for the Sultan of Brunei. The mosque is a well-known Muslim pilgrims

place and a fine illustration of Islamic architecture. Lastly, the crossing of Mt. Kitanglad and Mt.

Dulang-Dulang is a must-do adventure in Mindanao. It is a nice place for people who love to

take an activity but at the same time enjoy the atmosphere of the place. As one of the few

protected rainforests in the nation and a haven for numerous animals, including the critically

endangered Philippine Eagle, Kitanglad oversees the northern central portion of the Bukidnon

province.

(Ryan Gabriel Arcadio, n.d) The southernmost portion of the archipelago is covered by

Mindanao, which is the second-largest major island in the Philippines after Luzon. Although it is

the furthest island area from Manila, the trip will undoubtedly be worthwhile due to the

abundance of breathtaking natural treasures. Davao, the largest city in Mindanao, is where you

can see the Philippine Eagle Conservation Area, which is home to the nation’s national bird. The

vibrant Kadayawan Festival, one of the biggest festivals in the Philippines, is also held in Davao.

One of the best island hopping destinations in the Philippines is found in Mindanao. Since

Mindanao is a mountainous area, it is also home to Mount Apo, which is the tallest mountain in

the nation and a popular destination for trekking trips. The Aliwagwag Falls Eco Park, one of the

most beautiful waterfalls in the Philippines, is another must-see site in Davao. It is home to the

84-tiered Aliwagwag Falls, which peaks at 1,110 feet and has more than 130 cascades, making it

the tallest waterfall in the Philippines. In addition to swimming, you may attempt traversing the

waterfalls on a 680-meter-long, 180-foot-high zipline. Alternatively, you might choose to cross

the Monkey Bridge while seeing the waterfalls below you.

In addition to providing towns in Davao Oriental with renewable energy, Aliwagwag Falls also

serves as an irrigation supply for the nearby rice fields. The Cateel River was the only access

point to the eco-park prior to its development.

Apart from the beaches and islands, Mindanao has several lovely historical sites worth seeing.

As stated in “ BRIA Homes, (2021)”. These ancient places have been protected to preserve the

cultural history of the Filipino people because they serve our way of life—both then and now—a

purpose and a meaning. It reflects our values and ways of life, provides our traditions and beliefs

a framework, and makes sure that others know we are Filipinos. These historical sites to see in

Mindanao are more than simply buildings; they also have a variety of uplifting tales that shaped

us as Filipinos. In connection with these, one of the most historical place is Fort Pilar of

Zamboanga City where The Real Fuerza de Nuestra Seora del Pilar de Zaragoza, also known as

Fort Pilar, was built in the 17th century by Spanish colonial authorities as a stronghold of

military defense close to Zamboanga City, Philippines. The fort, a notable monument and

representative of the city's cultural heritage, is now a regional museum of the Philippines

National Museum. Furthermore, this fort serves as a sacred place for Catholics as well as a well-

liked tourist destination in Mindanao. Fiesta Pilar, a very popular yearly event, is held at the Fort.

In addition, The Fort has made a name for itself as a very important symbol of passion, culture,

and history. A very spectacular museum dedicated to birdhouses is located there along with the

Fort. Golden sculptures of Catholic saints cover the walls, captivating guests with their beauty.

Another historical spot in Mindanao is The Rizal Shrine of Dapitan City. The most significant

historical site in Mindanao to see is this one in Dapitan City. It refers to Dr. Jose P. Rizal's estate,

which is around sixteen (16) hectares and is located in Barangay Talisay, two (2) kilometers to
the northwest of the City Hall. Jose Rizal, a famous national hero, is honored at this park. It is a

stone that isn't tied to anything and is merely lost in the field; this is where Rizal personified the

idea that "A life that is not committed to a noble goal is meaningless." He perfectly embodied the

idea of a man on a mission. despite his unfortunate situation being a result of the gods, he was

making the most of every moment. Another way of visiting spot is Magellan’s Landing Site of

Butuan City, According to tradition, Magellan performed a blood covenant with Raja Siaiu when

he arrived at Masao Butuan City, Agusan Del Norte. As stated by Antonio Pigafetta and the

Official Chronicler of his fleet, "as we had seen a fire on an island (Masawa) that night before,

we anchored near it." In Butuanon, the only language in the Philippines that uses the word,

"masawa" denotes "bright." This monument can be reached from Butuan City proper in about 30

minutes by tricycle.
