    P1 For a given state of stress at a point in a frame, certain


    stress components are known for each of the two
    orientations shown in Figure P1. Using Mohr’s circle
    only, determine:
    i. Draw Mohr’s circle for this state of stress.
    ii. Determine the principal stresses and the
    maximum shear stress acting at the point, and
    show these stresses in an appropriate sketch.
    iii. Determine the normal and shear stresses on the
    indicated inclined plane.
