Romeo and Juliet Script

-Video of Romeo and Juliet walking while holding hands-

INTRO (to be read by Dominika):


A typical love story this may not be, embarked in a forbidden love leading to
misfortune. Will Romeo and Juliet finally put an end to a long-time family
feud? This we must wait and see.

ACT 1:
Scene 1:
-Show Capulet Family-, -Show Montague Family-
Scene 2:
-Show party-, -Show Capulet Family together-
Capulet: Oh here comes Count Paris, Juliet you have to engage in conversation
with him for he will be your be wedded.
-Show Juliet not being interested-
-Show Romeo looking for Rosaline (his ex)-
Romeo: Oh Rosaline where are you
-Show Juliet sneaking away-
-Romeo runs and bumps into Juliet-
Romeo: Pardon me baroness, I did not intend to bump into you. Allow me to
introduce myself, the name’s Romeo
Juliet: No hard feelings monsieur Romeo, Juliet
-Romeo kisses Juliet’s hand-
Romeo: Delighted to have met

Scene 2:
-Servant comes over to Romeo-
Servant: Pardon Mister Romeo, but you must know the lady you were talking to
was a Capulet
Romeo: What is the point you want to prove?
Servant: With all due respect Sir, you are a Montague. Both of your families are
long-time rivals.
Romeo: Oh. Well that’s too bad I suppose
Tybalt: HEY! How dare a Montague like you come forth in thy Capulet’s ball.
Leave this instance and never to return!
-Show Capulet Family in distress-

ACT 2:
Scene 1:
-Romeo is kicked out and sees Juliet by the window-
Romeo: Dear Juliet, down here! It is thy Romeo, the young lad you had met
earlier at the ball.
Juliet: Oh Romeo Oh Romeo, I know we had only exchanged a few words but I
feel there is more than what destiny meets.
Romeo: Oh my Juliet, I too feel the same way. At first glance I knew I loved you
from the sight of your eyes.
Juliet: But what must we do, I do not wish to be apart form you
Romeo: Let us plight one’s troth and become one I marriage oh Juliet!
Juliet: Yes, I do not wish to be married to the Count Paris
Romeo: Tomorrow, when a new day awakes, we will be one my Juliet.

Scene 2:
-Romeo meets with Friar Laurence-
Romeo: My dear friend I am in need of your help.
Friar Laurence: Romeo, how well is it too see you. How can I come to your
assistance?
Romeo: I wish to get married, tomorrow
Friar Laurence: I am glad for you Romeo, but so soon?
Romeo: I believe love does not deserve to wait Friar
Friar Laurence: Indeed you are a romantic, may I ask to whom you wish to be
wed?
Romeo: To Juliet, Juliet Capulet
Juliet: Taking in mind both your family’s feud, I assume they do not have an
idea about this? Do they?
Romeo: Yes, they do not. Will you wed us Friar Laurence?
Friar Laurence: Hm, yes I will. I think this is a great opportunity to end this
long eventful feud of yours.

Scene 3:
Lady Capulet: Nurse, where is my daughter? Call her fourth to me.
Nurse: Yes Lady
Juliet: Madam I am here, what is it that you will?
Lady Capulet: Let us talk about your soon marriage with the Count Prince. A
lot is to be planned.
Nurse: I do not mean to interrupt and with all due respect Lady, should Juliet
not have a say in which young lad she is to marry? She is still young after all
Lady Capulet: She isn’t fourteen, besides a lot of young women here in Verona
are already made mothers. You are at the brink of age where marriage is to be
planned Juliet
Nurse: Well, no disrespect but you are adding fuel to the fire that women grow
by men.. Lady
-Enter servant-
Servant: I apologize to interrupt but the guests have arrived our Lady.
Lady Capulet: We must follow now.
Nurse: Go Juliet. Hurry.

Scene 4:
-Juliet and Romeo meet-
Romeo: Oh Juliet, I was frightened you wouldn’t appear
Juliet: Worry not anymore my Romeo I am here
-Slowmo of them getting married-
-Close up shots-

ACT 3:
Scene 1:
]-Benvolio and Mercutio are talking-
-Tybalt appears-
Tybalt: I need to speak to one of you
Mercutio: Oh here comes Tybalt, why should we act like slaves ad listen to you
crony man.
-Romeo appears-
Romeo: What’s happening here
Tybalt: And here comes the villain
Romeo: Settle down gentlemen, let us resolve this like proper men
Tybalt: Oh stop the innocent look act Romeo, I challenge you to a duel, draw
your sword and face me to death!
Romeo: Tybalt, there is no reason for me to engage in a fight with you, our
relationship is far deeper than you thought
-Romeo throws his sword-
-Mercutio goes forward holding his sword-
Mercutio: If Romeo will not fight with you, the I will!
-Mercutio and Tybalt start to fight-
Romeo: Stop this nonsense!
-Romeo tries to stop the fight-
-Tybalt stabs Mercutio under Romeo’s arm and Mercutio falls to his death-
Romeo: How dare you kill him in my accompaniment! My love for Juliet had
held me back from fighting you and I wish I would’ve set it aside so I could’ve
fought in Mercutio’s place!
-Romeo grabs his sword and fights Tybalt-
-Tybalt gets stabbed and dies-
Benvolio: ROMEO RUN!
-People start to appear-

Scene 2:
Prince of Verona: I therefore plead you, Romeo Montague, guilty! Responsible of
the death of Tybalt, you must leave Verona and never to come forth or set foot
ever again.

Scene 3:
Friar Laurence: So, what are you going to do now?
Romeo: I’m leaving for Mantua
Friar Laurence: Well, I’ll help you pack up then, it’s the least I can do old
friend.
Romeo: Thank you, Friar

Scene 4:
-Capulet Family eating dinner-
Lord Capulet: Juliet, I have yet to inform you but we have rescheduled your
wedding with Count Paris to tomorrow. We have a lot planned----
-Juliet interrupts-
Juliet: No
Lady Capulet: Juliet tame yourself
Juliet: I said no!
-Juliet walks out-
Lord and Lady Capulet: Juliet!
ACT 4:
Scene 1:
-Juliet and Friar Lawrence meet-
Juliet: Friar you must help me, I need you to assist me a potion to make it
appear as if I am dead yet I am only asleep just so my family would think I
have passes, so the wedding wouldn’t come forth.
Friar Laurence: Okay, let’s do it

Scene 2:
-The servant screams-
-Lord and Lady Capulet runs to Juliet’s room terrified thinking she was dead-
-Friar Laurence send a letter to Romeo about their plan:
VOICEOVER SCRIPT:
Dear Romeo, this is Friar Laurence. Juliet and I had made a plan to stop this
arranged marriage. She has digested a potion to make it seem she is dead yet
she is only asleep. You must go and get your sleeping Juliet from the Capulet’s
abode. After this, you two can live and finally be together. Yours truly, Friar
Laurence.

ACT 5:
Scene 1:
Servant 1: Did you hear about the Count Prince’s wedding?
Servant 2: No, why?
Servant 3: Well it is not going to happen anymore, the woman to be wed, Juliet
Capulet was found dead in her bed earlier this morning.
Servant 2: Oh dear, what unfortunate news
-Romeo’s eyes widens and he runs screaming Juliet’s name-

Scene 2:
-He finds Paris crying beside Juliet’s body-
Romeo: You! This is your fault! If you didn’t push yourself to marry her she
wouldn’t be dead!
-Romeo stabs Paris with his sword-
-Romeo drinks the potion and dies-
-Friar Laurence enters the room-
Friar Laurence: ROMEO!?
-Friar Laurence wakes up Juliet-
-Juliet sees the bodies-
Friar Laurence: I didn’t know he didn’t read my message on time
-Friar Laurence turns his back-
-Juliet picks up a sword and stabs himself-
Friar Laurence: JULIET!

Scene 3:
-Friar Laurence, The prince, the capulets and the montague sign a treaty of
peace-

END
