This study aimed to explore how the lack of academic social interactions during COVID-19 impacted university students' learning difficulties. The researchers conducted a qualitative study of students in Croatia using a survey and observations. They found that students who perceived greater lack of social interactions experienced more challenges with learning and self-regulation in online classes. Additionally, this perception indirectly influenced difficulties by negatively impacting students' perceived life disruptions and adjustment to online learning. The researchers recommend universities support engaging teaching and balance workloads to help students adapt to remote learning during the pandemic.
