The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education. Six years
of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School.
To provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and
prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and
entrepreneurship. Inclusive education embraces the philosophy of accepting all children
regardless of race, size, shape, color, ability or disability with support from school staff,
students, parents and the community. Now how do the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum
helps to comply the need of not just every children with disabilities but also to childrens with
different race, size, shape, color and ability.
One of the current issues in education is inclusion. When I first heard the phrase,
"Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and foster lifelong learning opportunities
for everyone," I understood how important inclusive education is and how we have been
underestimating it. I was much better able to understand inclusion after reading all the
papers and quotes from the law. For inclusive education, many basis already existed. Leonor
Briones, secretary of the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd), just released Dept. In
response to inclusion, Order (DO) 21, series of 2019 was issued. The Department of
Education created the Policy Guidelines for the K–12 Basic Education Program. Under item
no. 16 of the policy statement on inclusive education, the line "Inclusive education is the
essential pillar of the K to 12 Basic Education Program" was highlighted. This promotes the
constitutional right of every Filipino to a top-notch, inclusive, widely based education. All
Filipinos will reach their full potential and contribute significantly to the growth of the nation
with comprehensive education. In addition, the Policy Framework for Inclusive Education
had a second Annex.
Inclusion is a key standard and idea in the K–12 curriculum, and additional standards
and ideas like learner-centered, developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, relevant,
gender-responsive, and contextualized support the realization of this standard and idea.
Because of this, the K–12 curriculum places a strong emphasis on inclusive education and
incorporates this viewpoint into its entire design. This can be seen in the Mother
Tongue-based Multilingual Education policy for grades K to 3, the variety of Technology and
Livelihood Educationofferings in junior high school, and the tracks and strands in senior high
school, which were all designed to be responsive to the various contexts in which the
country's students learn.
