Introduction
Purpose of the module:
To establish the competencies a beginner teacher will need in order to achieve the teaching-
learning objectives that are required by diverse education-related contexts.

Teaching and learning in this module
This module establishes the competencies a beginner teacher will need in order to achieve the
teaching-learning objectives that are required by diverse education-related contexts by:
Developing the awareness needed to identify resources from the environment as appropriate
teaching-learning media;
Reflecting critically on the suitability of teaching and learning media;
Applying theoretical principles to the creation, integration, and evaluation of teaching-learning
media;
Developing the skills needed to create and integrate teaching-learning media; and
Developing teaching-learning digital media.

Assessment
Requirements for successful completion of the module
You need a final module mark of at least 50% to pass the module.
Assessment plan:
A) Assessment that will count towards your module mark (Formative assessment)
Submission of assignments and activities on eFundi.

B) Examination (Summative assessment)
Assignments and activities as indicated on eFundi and submission of a portfolio.
The module does not have an examination.

Learning outcomes
In order to implement active learning in your classroom you need to have knowledge about
learning theories. Name and briefly discuss the most popular learning theories for a multi-media
approach to teaching and learning in the Fourth Industrial Revolution
On completion of this study unit, you should be able to:
explain active learning;
identify learning theories and teaching-learning strategies you would use as frameworks to
enhance active learning in your classroom;
discuss teaching-learning theories related to active learning/learner-centred teaching
approach;
discuss teaching-learning strategies related to active learning/learner-centred teaching
approach;
discuss sharing of information by means of digital technologies and application software.

evaluate, select, create and implement digital technologies to manage the sharing of

Discuss the purpose and general use of different application software;
Appropriately use application software in teaching and learning situations;
Illustrate an awareness of the use of a coding application to enhance problem solving skills.
