The sun is a huge source of heat and light which is essential for the environment and the
provider of both light and energy in our solar system. Viewed from the earth, it rises in the east
and sets in the west. The existence of life without the sun is impossible. We would never have
had days and nights without the sun. To get light and energy for various reasons like drying our
clothes and generating electricity, we need the sun. Plus the sun’s rays help synthesize vitamin
D, which is essential for our body. As it is important for human beings the sun too is important
for plants. The day can never start without the sunrise life truly is impossible without the sun.
Each plant has its way of developing growth as well as mung beans. This type of legume bean
which we usually eat in our soup or in any food that we place has its appealing planting. Not
only does the research focus on mung beans being good for the body but to examine how mung
bean seeds develop as a plant. Research indicates that a mung bean sprouts the next two days
after you plant the seed. The catalyst is moisture; as the seed takes in moisture, the germ will
start to develop and the seed coat will relax and split. To make this interesting, it is said that
mung beans grow faster in dull areas. Because they are accustomed to growing close to one
another, mung beans grow more quickly in the dark because they are fiercely competitive for
light. Fast growth spurts are a natural element of their survival strategy so that they can get to
the light. There is a lot of research about mung bean seeds but this research paper is more
focused on the mung bean circumstances with or without the sun. With the help of plant
processing, experiments, and patience the questions and curiosity will be answered as the
observations will be taken by the end of the experiment’s result. Then there will be the research
paper will prove if the other statements are true or false.
As the sun benefits human beings they too benefit the plant’s growth. Plants need to absorb
light from the sun, and with it, they grow and nourished. As the plants play the role of solar
panels they must take advantage of the exposure to the sunlight to form the nutrients they
needed. But having too much exposure to sunlight might cause harm to the essential proteins in
a plant, there might be a chance that it will die. Although, without the sunlight’s energy the
plants wouldn’t be able to develop the nutrients needed, and will affect the plant by either dying
or slowing the process of their growth.
Research problem:
People are familiar with a plant requiring the sun’s energy. As the matter of course, the mung
bean plant needs sunlight exposure, as it is exposed to sunlight there the mung bean plant has
the advantage to obtain nutrients with the sunlight’s help. In our curiosity, on what scale does
the sun affect a mung bean plant? We need to know more about the importance of sunlight to
the growth of the mung bean plants to understand in what way the sun affects the mung bean
plant. In this research, we’ll use two pots so the other would be exposed to the sunlight while
the other would not be exposed to the sunlight.
Objectives:
Observation :
Some said that plants can be well developed with the help of sunlight and some said that plants
grow independently without sunlight. Both statements are correct due to the differences
between each plant, they too might have or not have the same kind of needs. It also states that
most plants may stop growing and may wither later on without sunlight’s existence. Only
exposure to sunlight would give a huge impact on the plants, especially the mung bean plant by
giving its necessity. Although if it will be tested by using mung bean
seeds it will be surely shown what affects the plant when the mung bean
plant has hit with sunlight or without sunlight.
3rd check of the mung bean plant: In the next 3 days we were able to examine pot #1 and it
was able to develop more, it grew a few inches while pot #2 was still in the same condition as it
was last time we checked it.
4th check of the mung bean plant: As we have checked the mung bean plants both pots which
contained the mung bean plant was unexpectedly damaged. It was due to pouring too much
water. In this incident, we planted the mung bean seeds and waited for them to grow.
2nd check of the mung bean plant: Several days had passed, and the first pot gave the progress that
you can say that it had grown than the last time had checked. As for the second pot, it was still not
sprouting.
3rd check of the mung bean plant: One week passed and suddenly the second pot which is
the pot where the mung bean plant was not exposed to the sunlight was not in the same growth
as the first pot, as we observe and examine it, it was still in the condition of rotting. While the
first pot which is the pot where the mung bean plant was exposed to the sunlight has grown day
by day, and it is anticipated that it can be harvested.
Research:
Research indicates that mung beans, like the majority of other beans, need full sun, which is at
least six hours of direct light per day. Mung beans are a warm-season crop, as was previously
said, and they will thrive in the ideal climate. As the mung beans absorb sunlight’s energy at that
moment it is used to create food, which is then distributed throughout the entire plant in the form
of sugars and carbohydrates. Sugars, starches, and nutrients must be supplied continuously for
the plants to grow healthily and yield a harvest from germination through harvest. In other
words, the sun may give what the mung bean plants require to grow.
Hypothesis :
Most likely, plants grow in areas where they can be sunlight. We too think that mung beans
need sunlight to be able to grow. Probably a mung bean plant will be developing faster and
much healthier when it is exposed to sunlight. Despite the research’s sayings with its heavy
certainty we used as well base in our e to make this assumption. As we think we anticipated
harvesting with a well-developed mung bean.
Test:
We got all the things we needed, 2 pots, loom soil, and more importantly mung bean seeds. We
put each half of the loom soil in the pots, then we stick our fingers in the loom soil to create a
hole not too deep and not too shallow put the mung bean seeds and added loom soil to cover
up the seeds. Then we sprinkled some water in both pots to dissolve the minerals in the soil.
After that, we placed the pots in the right places that they were assigned. The first pot is the pot
where we’ll expose to the sunlight and the second pot which is the pot where we’ll not expose to
the sunlight.
Analysis:
Conclude:
An experiment was carried out to determine whether or not the presence of sunlight could
hinder the development of the mung bean plant. As the tests went successfully the results were
the first pot which is a mung bean plant that was exposed to sunlight developed into a good
condition. The second pot which is the pot that didn’t expose to sunlight was able to sprout
although for a few days, it stayed as it is and later on it withered. Therefore, mung beans are
well developed when it hits the sunlight rather than staying in a shade. Considering our curiosity
was simply answered by the help of testing which plant would grow well while using two pots
with different environments can clearly state that sunlight is needed to start its journey to grow.
At the same time, we reflected that a plant's ability to grow depends heavily on sunlight, without
it, it cannot live, reproduce, or generate food. If there is no light for plants to use, they will all
eventually perish.
