REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
This Investigatory Project presents the different effects of Moringa Oleifera
to bruises and burns and how it is of use during these skin related conditions. This
also includes the different functions and benefits of Malunggay to its user and its
medicinal aspect.

REVIEW OF RELATED STUDIES

Moringa Oleifera (malunggay leaf) contains iron and reduces inflammation on the
skin. Malunggay has 7 times more vitamin C than oranges and 15 times more
potassium which helps the process of healing throughout your body. The leaf Moringa
helps treat minor injuries such as bruises alongside with burns, due to their astringent
and antimicrobial properties and the bioactive compound vicenin-2 that Moringa
Oleifera contains, which promotes wound healing process, wound contraction and
increased rates of epithelialization (a process where epithelial cells migrate upwards
and repair the wounded area). The leaf has many nutrients healthy for your skin
including Vitamin A, which builds collagen (an essential component of connective
tissue) and contains Vitamin E that has anti-inflammatory properties.
Also known as the drumstick tree (Moringa Oleifera) provides many uses and
proposed health benefits, nutritional and medicinal advantages included as well. Parts
of the malunggay leaf have been used from water purification to the treatment of
chronic diseases, having Diabetes in topic). Diabetes being an increasingly problematic
health concern, Moringa Oleifera has been suggested as medication of treatments in
the prevention for diabetes. Several early studies (study of WebMD) show that insulin-
like proteins found in moringa may help lower blood sugar. Plant chemical Quercetin,
which is an Antioxidant, found in the leaves might help the body process sugar better
as well as another antioxidant is Chlorogenic acid which stabilizes blood sugar levels.,
and it may affect how the body releases insulin.
The Moringa Leaves are nutritionally rich. Beating carrots, oranges, and even
milk in terms of nutritional value. The malunggay leaf contains many nutritional values
that can be added to your cuisine and can be incorporated to your diet and many ways
and to be served for better intake. They provide many health variants (Protein, Vitamin
B6, Vitamin C, Iron, Riboflavin, Vitamin A, Magnesium) which are very important
nutrients. These leaves are an ideal resource for as they stabilize the blood glucose
levels with the help of isothiocyanate (compounds produced by several plants).
