Making Up
Starting with the head stuff firmly and shape.
Stuff muzzle and place on the lower half of head –
align the top of the muzzle to lie across round 7
of the head and stitch on firmly.
Shaping the muzzle
At the top of the muzzle where it now joins the
head mark the centre crochet stitch with your
stitch marker. Using a needle and the same
coloured yarn, shape muzzle by sewing a long
stitch, going into the muzzle two stitches to the
side of the stitch marker and exiting two stitches
to the other side (gathering 5 stitches in all). Now
sew through these two points repeatedly, pulling
the stitches as tight as you can. This will pull the
top of the muzzle into a slight point for the nose.
To divide the muzzle in two make another long
stitch starting three rows down from your stitch
marker and exiting at the centre of the bottom

base of the muzzle, again sew through these two
points repeatedly, pulling the stitches tightly.
Fasten off securely.
If you are using safety eyes push them through
the centre of the magic ring on the eye patches
and attach them on either side of the 'point' of
the Muzzle. Sew the eye patches firmly to head.
If using crochet eyes sew firmly on to the eye
patches and sew eye patches with eyes to either
side of the 'point' of the Muzzle.
Stuff the body firmly and sew to head along neck
edges. Stuff arms lightly and sew to either side of
neck.
Using Round 3 of the head as a starting point,
attach ears to the top of the head (as shown in
red in the diagram) and when you are happy with
the placement stitch firmly. Using your chosen
yarn or thread Embroider a 'triangle' shape on
muzzle for nose as shown in diagram.
If you are making this pattern for a smaller
child sew legs firmly to either side of body in a
standing or sitting position.
For a posable bear take a long length of yarn and
stitch through the first leg at about 1 cm from the
top, through the body and into the second leg at
about 1cm from the top (see diagram) then stitch
back through the second leg, then the body and
the first leg in the same place and pull firmly.
Repeat these stitches back and forth through the
legs and body until legs are securely attached but
still movable and fasten off.
Stuff and sew tail to lower back and weave in any
loose ends.
