Baby bunny

WHAT DO YOU NEED


Yarn: Granny Kit cotton colour Sand.
Crochet hook: 1.75/ 2.00mm
2 black glass eyes - 4mm (if you make it for a child under age of 4, embroider the eyes)
Soft stuffing (acrylic or cotton) to fill in the Bunny.
Tapestry needle, pins, stitch marker

LEVEL
This is a miniature amigurumi step by step pattern. If you have experienced crochet in the past
it will be good for you. It wouldn't fit you if this is your first crochet project.

BUNNY SIZE
With Granny Kit cotton yarn and 1.75mm hook, the baby bunny will be about 12 c"m height,
from the top of the ear to the bottom of the leg. If you crochet this pattern with any other yarn
or hook size, you might need to change the eyes size to keep it's right sweet proportions.
Make sure you crochet the baby bunny pretty tight so you don't have any stretching holes
where the stuffing material can be seen through.

ABBREVIATIONS (US crochet terms)


ch = chain stitch
st(s) = stitch(s)
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
rep = repeat
rnd(s) = round(s)
yo = yarn over
lp(s) = loop(s)
sk = skip
beg = beginning
*...* = repeat instructions between ** X times
sc2tog = single crochet 2 next stitches together

Crochet the sc2tog as follow: insert hook to front lp only of next st and than to front lp only of
the next st (2 left pic). yo, pull throught both front lps, yo and pull through both remaining lps
on hook (2 right pic). This way your sc2tog will not show. Look for invisible sc2tog on youtube.

LEGS make 2 of them
To start make a magic lp.
rnd 1. sc 8 in the yarn lp and tighten the lp to close the hole. (right pic)

Work in spiral from now and mark your first st each rnd.
rnd 2-10. (9 rnds) sc around, work on the yarn tail. (8 sts)
Mark with a dot or a line at the end of each rnd, it will help you avoiding counting mistakes.

Fasten off and weave in the tail as follow: thread a needle onto the yarn tail, insert the needle
under both lps of the second st ahead of you (not the next one but the one after, left pic) pull
the yarn all the way out, now insert your needle right in the middle of the last sc you just made
on last rnd and through the st right under it (2nd pic). pull the yarn all the way out. lay the yarn
tail inside the leg to hide it. You created a clean amigurumi edge to the baby bunny leg.

Make the second leg now, as we just made the first one but DO NOT cut the yarn at the end.

BODY
rnd 1. with the yarn on the 2nd leg continue as follow: ch2, sc in one of the sts on the 1st leg
(left top pic). sc in each st around first leg, sc in each of ch2 sts (right top), sc around 2nd leg.
You made a 20 sts rnd, which is the base of the body. Fill in some stuffing material into the legs
now, make sure you don't push too much, try to keep their liny shape.

rnd 2-6. (5 rnds) sc around, work spiral, mark the first st in each rnd. (20 sts)
Mark here each rnd while finished, it'll help you avoid counting mistakes: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
rnd 7. sc in next 6 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 8 sts, sc2tog, sc in last 2 sts. (18 sts)
rnd 8. sc in next 6 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 7 sts, sc2tog, sc in last st. (16 sts)
rnd 9. sc in next 6 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 6 sts, sc2tog. (14 sts)
rnd 10. *sc in next 5 sts, sc2tog* repeat between ** twice. (12 sts)
Fill in some stuffing material now, it will be harder later.
rnd 11. *sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog*repeat between ** twice. (10 sts)
Fasten off leaving about 25 cm yarn tail to sew the body to the head later. Fill in some more
stuffing material, the body needs to be stuffed firmlly.

HANDS make 2 of them
To start make a magic lp. Work in spiral, mark your first st each rnd.
rnd 1. sc 7 in the yarn lp and tighten the lp to close the hole.
rnd 2-11. (10 rnds) sc around (7 sts) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.
Fill in just a little stuffing material into the hands lower part - leave most of it almost empty, to
make sure they stay flexible, next to the body later.
Fold the arm and sc 3 - using both sides sts together, to close (left pic)
Fasten off, leaving about 25 cm yarn tail - you'll need it later, to sew the hand to the body.

EARS make 2 of them


To start make a magic lp.
Work in spiral, mark your first st each rnd.
rnd 1. sc 4 in the yarn lp and tighten the lp to close the centre.
rnd 2. sc2 in each st around. (8 sts)
rnd 3. *sc in next st, sc2 in next* rep between ** 4 times around. (12 sts)
rnd 4-7. (4 rnds) sc around. (12 sts) 1. 2. 3. 4.
rnd 8. *sc in 4 next sts, sc2tog* rep between ** 2 times around (10 sts)
rnd 9. sc around. (10 sts)
rnd 10. *sc in 3 next sts, sc2tog* rep between ** 2 times around (8 sts)
rnd 11. sc around. (8 sts)
rnd 12. *sc in 2 next sts, sc2tog* rep between ** 2 times around (6 sts)
Fold the ear and sc 3 sts, using both sides sts, to close (left pic).
Fasten off, leaving about 20 cm yarn tail to sew the ear & eyes, to the head, later.

HEAD
To start make a magic lp. Work in spiral, mark your first st each rnd.
rnd 1. sc 8 in the yarn lp and tighten the lp to close the hole.
rnd 2. sc2 in each st around. (16 sts)
rnd 3. *sc in next st, 2sc in next* rep between ** 8 times around. (24 sts)
rnd 4. *sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next* rep between ** 8 times around. (32 sts)
rnd 5-11 (7 rnds) sc around. (32 sts) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Stop working on the head and place the eyes in their right place as follow:

PLACE THE EYES between rnds 10 and 11, keep 6 sts between them, as I show on left pic.
Thread a needle on a piece of yarn. Insert your yarn through both eyes lps. Make a knot to hold
them together, not too tight. Cut the tails, leaving just short ends. (right pic)

Now when the eyes are located on the head, continue crocheting the head as follow:
rnd 12. *sc in 2 next sts, sc2tog * rep between ** 8 times around. (24 sts)
rnd 13. *sc in next, sc2tog* rep between ** 8 times around. (16 sts)
Fill in some stuffing material, very firmly, make sure the eyes stay in their right place. (left pic)
rnd 14. *sc2tog* rep between ** 8 times around. (8 sts). Fasten off and weave in the yarn tail.

PLACE THE EARS in their right place on the head so they are almost 'kissing' the head's
centered ring (see bellow pic). Use the yarn left on each ear and sew them to the head. Sew the
tails ends into the head to hide them. It should look like the right pic now.

ATTACH THE HANDS TO THE BODY Place the hands one row down from the last body rnd,
like I show on the right pic. Sew them to the body, using the yarn tail left on each hand. Sew
the tails ends into the body to hide it. It should look like the right pic now.

JOINING HEAD AND BODY Make sure there's enough stuffing material in the body. Thread a
needle onto the yarn tail left from body and carefully sew the head and body together. Make
sure the head stays straight, it can easily move while sewing. Insert your needle one time to the
head and one time to the body. Try to hide your sts as much as you can.
