    SCHOOL BASED MATHEMATICS FESTIVAL

    Mathematics is part of everyone’s life. In our day to day activities ,we


    applied mathematics without even knowing it. Every year, we celebrate
    Mathematics. Why do we need to celebrate it? How important it is?

    On March 14, 2023 , Carmen Central Elementary School celebrated the


    International Day of Mathematics by conducting a School Based Mathematics
    Festival with the theme “Mathematics For Every One “ which highlights the idea
    that Mathematics is not limited to Mathematician but is essential for every one.
    It aimed to recognize the importance of Mathematics in our daily lives and to
    raise awareness about its importance globally. The activity started at 1:30 in
    the afternoon .Pupils and teachers together with our GPTA President Mr. Jerix
    Tisang gathered together at CCES ground for the opening program. The
    second part was the contest proper. Different activities/games were played in
    a form of contest .Quiz bowl played in two categories: Grades 1 to 3 and
    Grades 4 to 6.Math Jingle was participated by grades 4 to 6 with a minimum
    of 10 and maximum of 15 pupils in each grade level. We also had Math
    Cartooning, Rubik’s Cube and Damath which played by Grades 4 to 6 pupils.
    There were three participants in every grade level. All activities/games were
    played simultaneously at the assigned venue. After all the activities had done,
    part lll of the program followed, the closing and awarding of certificates. Pupils
    and teachers were gathered again at CCES ground for the announcement
    of winners and awarding of certificates to all the winners.

    Indeed, the activity was successfully done. Learners/pupils were given


    opportunities to show their knowledge and skills in Math. Actived participation
    and enjoyment in doing all the activities were manifested on learners’ faces.
    Teachers were happy, knowing that this activity marked another memorable
    learning experienced inculcated to the life and mind of our learners.
