The Messi story needed its narrative arc and it is the World Cup
that has provided it. People prefer their

geniuses flawed, it makes them more
compelling. From the days of antiquity,
the idea has persisted that there must
be a price to pay for one’s gifts, a toll
taken.
With Messi, that struggle had long

been hard to see. Uprooting to Europe
aged 13 inevitably brought challenges but he made the
transition seem seamless on the pitch and off it. Even the
childhood sweetheart came with him. His life has been
characterized by success.
That can leave people a little cold. Gabriel Batistuta said it

comforted him that he had lost his Argentina scoring record to
an extra-terrestrial. Carlos Mac Allister, who played with
Maradona and whose son Alexis is now a World Cup winner
alongside Messi, summed it up.
“Without a doubt, Messi is the

greatest in all of history,” he said
recently. “I am rational. I believe
in what I see. Messi's numbers
are compelling.” And yet, still
there was the caveat that
Maradona had given the people
emotions that Messi had not
been able to provide.
Messi was a Champions League winner as a teenager and

scored in two more Barcelona triumphs before the age of 24.
He had an Olympic gold medal at 21. Seven Ballons d’Or. 800
goals. One big problem. The Copa America just was not
enough.
The World Cup was his final labour, the tournament that would
not bend to his will. This fifth and final opportunity had come at
a time when his powers had appeared to be waning. He was no
longer viewed the best player at his own club let alone on the
planet.
That he hauled Argentina to glory after the setback against

Saudi Arabia, ensured that we finally saw the struggle. Leads
were lost, once to the Netherlands and twice to France. But he
endured. He overcame. It did not come quickly or easily. That
makes it more special

way to describe a little bit but clearly about Messi’s life just in one word “success”
because he has achieved a lot of trophies and awards. Still, from my perspective, to
achieve success now, Messi has experienced something like difficulty when first
moving to Catalonia to adapt to a new environment, to fight against Rickets, or
even lose. Carlos Mac Allister said to Bate that “Without a doubt, Messi is the
greatest in all of history…. I am rational. I believe in what I see. Messi’s numbers
are compelling”. I and everyone will admit and claim that his opinion is right, even
Messi can’t win the World Cup, but he has won it. As the author said “There is still
a caveat that Messi can not bring about the emotion as Maradona”, that is the effect
in the previous period when Messi can’t seal the trophy for Argentina as Maradona
did in 1986 at Mexico 86’, although he has competed in 4 FWCs in a row from
2006 to 2018. Leo has won a lot of trophies with his club Barcelona, from LaLiga
to UEFA Champions League, he had everything at the age of 24 with 3 times in the
Champions League, but he did nothing for Argentina, so the Argentinan started to
criticize and don’t recognize his talent. He has to do something to prove his value
such as a national team trophy. And the FIFA World Cup is the final labor for
himself, the fifth and last time at the largest venue in world football when his
power and spirit are not as high as before. But as we had seen, this is the best
tournament of Messi, he led his team from the Group Stage to the Final. He started
the tournament with a goal on the penalty spot, but his team lost when Saudi
Arabia scored 2 goals in the second half to create a huge shock. But after that
match, Argentina played more carefully and become one of the nominees for the
trophy, with a 2-0 win against Mexico the keep hope to be alive, a dramatic win in
the penalty shootout against the Netherlands, an easy win 3-0 against Croatia in the
Semi-Final although everyone forecasted that this would be a huge challenge for
Messi and his teammate, and the best match ever in history when Messi scored two
goals in the Final against France to help Argentina win the FWC for the third time
in history. To conclude, this post has used many words to summarize in the
shortest way about Messi’s career and his recent achievement with Argentina
national team. When I read those words, I feel like I am witnessing the whole life
of a genius I respect and admire.
