Course Overview
This is a hands-on course that introduces students to computer technologies and applications
and equips them with basic skills to use up to date computer software for word processing,
communication, e learning, presentation, information processing and other functions.

Course Levels: Computer basics course Is provided in three flavors, Beginners, Intermediate &
Advanced level. The course topics for the three flavors are more or less similar, the only
difference is the degree of its complexity and comprehensiveness. 

Course Duration: This course is intended for three months, three classes in a week and two
hours per class. But it is a flexible course based on the demand of employee’s time
convenience i.e., it can be provided as a crash course.  

Objective of the course: 


The overall objective of this course is to enable students to develop an understanding of the
principles and theory behind computer technologies and applications, to develop skills in using
the computer to collect, analysis and edit data and to manipulate, process, present and
communicate information to different sectors.

Specifically, through this course the student will be able to:


 Create, edit and format word processing files for the purpose of producing assignments,
research reports, letters and email messages.
 Know some basic computer troubleshooting tips
 Use the Internet to browse for information and download files and programs.
 Use email software to send and receive messages and attachments.
 Perform file management of a variety of files and back these files up on both magnetic
and optical removable media.
 Use spreadsheet software to manage financial and research data, and perform a basic
statistical analysis of research data.
 Use spreadsheet software to create and modify graphical charts.
 Create PowerPoint presentations that are composed of both text and graphical
information.
 Create and manage a flat file database with the Access software.
 Create aesthetic banners and cards using publisher

Course Details
Computer application course is classified into three broad modules, module one covers
introduction to computer systems and operating systems Windows 10/11 . Module two covers
from basic Microsoft Excel concepts to advanced data analysis. Module three covers Microsoft
Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Access Database.

Method of Evaluation:
Students’ final course grade will be based upon the accumulated point scores from the following
course modules:

Module 1: Computer & Operating System Exam 30%

Module 2: Microsoft Excel Exam 30%

Module 3: Word, Access, PowerPoint & Publisher Exam 40%

Total Score 100%
