Welcome to the Beauty Care-Nail Care Services Grade 9 Module on Apply Half-Moon
Design!

This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and


reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its mayor,
Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized the standards set by the K
to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) in
developing this instructional resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

LESSON

In manicure, it is very necessary that the service provider has the technical-
know-how in creating and applying designs on nails, because clients come to a
salon for a regular service most specially when they are satisfied with the service
being given to them.
One of the most commonly requested nail designs is the half-moon.
Half-moon design resembles the crescent shape of the moon which follows the
shape of the lunula.

Steps in Creating Half-Moon Design

1. Apply base coat on the nails twice.

2. Apply the color enamel from the one corner of the nail following the shape of
the lunula up to the next corner.

3. Fill the whole nails, leaving the lunula with the base coat. Allow the nail polish
to dry.
4. Remove excess nail polish using a cotton-tipped orange wood stick.

5. Apply top coat. Allow it to dry.

Activity 1
Directions: Use the illustration below. Create half-moon design using any
coloring material. (Apply 2 colors to emphasize the half-moon design).

Activity 2: Arranging sequence.


Direction: Arrange the following activities in proper sequence by supplying
