CHAPTER 1
Nowadays, many people are using social media. Social media are online
technology platforms that help to connect people together far and near. It is
used to build relationship among people. Some other people are getting
addicted when using it while the other people is uncared for their health. Social
media has a great impact on people ‘s daily life. At this point, the social media
is enables people to ensure a practical communication with other people all over
the world and perform many other information related activities like reaching to
the desired information and sharing. Sometimes social media used in negatively

today is growing by the day and gaining more and more popularity among
students. It is a way to make connections, not only on campus but with friends
outside of school. Its increased popularity has raised concern over how the time
spent and student activities on these sites could impact their performance in
school. Several studies have been carried out by different researchers to assess
how the use of social media impact student academic performance. Social Media
media is a tool that could be used for good or bad, it all depends on the
person. Social media has its layers of good and bad. Yes, it is easier to
remember the bad rather than the good but, social media sites have
created opportunities for people all over the world. Statistics show that women
spend more time on social media than men, however women use social media

more effectively than men (Priestly, 2017). A study of Hitam and Idrus (2014)
maintain personal connections and for learning preferences, whereas men use

The target population of this study is from the Grade 12 HUMSS A students
only, with population size of 34, the respondents will consider a sample of 10
that each individual has the same probability of being chosen at any stage

CONCLUSION
The study was conducted to examine about of social media and for using
collaboration. The use of social media in education provides students with the
ability to get more useful information, to connect with learning groups and other
should to know the limit of this, there’s a tendency to get addicted the user.
The impact to the academic performance is sometimes they don’t have time to
make assignment or study because they had long been on social media. And
also the students spend a lot of time while using social media or social
networking.

either use it to supplement their academic work rather than the usual
