Cooler (0Z1)
On the Crawler version of the Diamec U6, an air/oil cooler is mounted as standard. It is placed in front of the traction
panel, on the right crawler protection plate. The two cooler fans are driven by 24 V motors and controlled by a ther-
mostat relay.

The main valve is a load sense valve with four work port sections. Starting from the inlet section, they control: Drill
motor, Feed cylinder, Wire line hoist and the Water pump.
4V4 Feed cylinder section: closed centre spool, 1301/min, and refilling/chock valves set at 320 bar
4V1 Wire line section: ......closed centre spool, 801/min, and refilling/chock valves set at 180 bar
4V3 Water pump section: ..open centre spool, 801/min, and pressure relief valve set at 175 bar
All four sections are remotely controlled from the pilot console.
In the inlet section there is a pressure relief valve set at 345 bars, to prevent pressure peaks in the hydraulic system.

Shuttle valves 5V1, check valves 5V2, Nozzles 5N1 and 5N2 and selector valves 5V4 and 5V6
are rod handling control logics.
Selector valve 5V4 synchronize the function of the chuck and the rod holder.
Selector valve 5V6 controls the thread compensation, when making or breaking the threads.
Valve 5V5 controls the chuck pressure, it is normally set at 100 to 120 bar, depending on application.
Valve 5V3 is activated from the pilot console when manually opening the rod holder.
Valve 5V7 controls the thread compensating force, it should be changed between 20 and 50 bar when the depth of the
hole varies.
Valve 5V8 is a selector valve to enable thread compensation for both up- and down-hole drilling.

Valve 7V2 is a pressure reducing valve to pilot control the water pump motor speed. It is active between 0 and 19 bars
and controls the flow from the 4V3 section in the main valve proportionally to the pressure. The valves intending use is
when the drill hole is flushed, or when the over shot is being pumped in
Valve 7V3 is a selector valve, it shortcuts the oil in the wire line control block and let the wire line hoist freewheel.
Valve 7V4 is a selector valve; it enables either rod handling in or rod handling out logic.
Valve 7V6 is a pressure reducing valve to pilot control the drill motor rotation speed. Up to 19 bars it regulates the flow
from the 4V2 section in the main valve proportionally to the pressure. Between 19 and 30 bars it regulates the displace-
ment of the rotation motor.
Valve 7V7 is a pressure reducing valve to limit the pressure in the pilot system. It is set from factory at 40 bar, and
should not be adjusted.
Valve 7V8 is a selector valve, it enabled drill feed in to the hole or out from the hole.
Valve 7V9 is a pressure reducing valve; it regulates the hold back force. It is continuously varied between 0 and 300 bars
during drilling. The valve can also relieve pressure
Valve 7V10 is a pressure reducing valve; it regulates the feed force. It is continuously varied between 0 and 300 bars
during drilling. The valve can also relieve pressure.
Nozzle 7Z1 has a diameter of 0.8mm; it limits the maximum drill speed to approximately 0.5 m/s
Valve 7V11 is a selector valve; it is used to manually open the rod holder. It is also used in order to check the gas
pressure in the rod holder gas spring.
Nozzle 7Z2 has a diameter of 0.8mm; it restricts the flow from the rod holder so that the pressure in the gas spring can
be measured.
Valve 7V13 is the joystick to regulate the lowering and raising speed of the wire line hoist, it is locked in neutral position
and is lifted when activated.
Valve 7V14 is the joystick to maneuver the rods with when rod handling. Lever forward lowers the drill head. Lever
backwards raises the head. Lever to the left breaks a rod joint. Lever to the right makes a rod joint.
Valve 7V15 is a pressure compensated flow valve. It is used to regulate the water pump when drilling. If valve 7V2 is
used for that purpose, the drill motor speed and torque will be affected.
Check valve 7V16 prevents the driller to over speed the water pump motor by using both 7V2 and 7V 15. It also pre-
vents pump interference between the main and the service pump.

Positioning valves
®
The crawler version of the Diamec U6 has a unique arrangement of positioning and tramming valves.
Valve 6V0 is plumbed loose on the rig, so that it can be placed at best possible spot, depending of in what direction drill-
ling is going to be set up. To activate the 6V0 valve, 6V6 must be put in drilling mode and 6V7 must be opened.
Section 6V1 is used to operate the worm gear motor; it is equipped with 80 bars dual chock valves to protect the motor
from over pressure caused by sudden breakage of the anchoring device.
Section 6V2 is used for tilting the feed frame holder. Tube mounted on the cylinder is a dual pilot check valve placed to
keep the tilt cylinder locked in position over time.
Section 6V3 is used to dump the feed frame in the feed frame holder - to get the rod holder close to the rock face. It is
equipped with one 80 bar and one 50 bar chock valves to protect the dump cylinder from breakage. The 80 bar setting
correlates to the piston rod side as to compensate for the smaller ring area.
Section 6V4 is used for move the stand forward and back on the crawler frame. Tube mounted on the cylinder is a dual
pilot check valve placed to keep the cylinder locked in position over time.
Section 6V5 is used for move the stand sideways on the crawler frame. Tube mounted on the cylinder is a dual pilot
check valve placed to keep the cylinder locked in position over time.
Nozzle 6N1 0.8 mm threaded into the fitting on the P port of the positioning valve. The nozzle limits the speed of posi-
tioning functions.
Valve 6V6 is a three-way valve on the tramming position. It is used for choosing tramming mode or drilling mode. This
is a safety device to prevent the driller from unintentionally move the crawler from the drill set-up.
Ball valve 6V7 isolates the positioning valve (6V0) when the three-way valve (6V6) is in drilling position.

Positioning valves
The crawler version of the Diamec ® U6 has a unique arrangement of positioning and tramming valves.
Tramming and support jacks valve 9V0 is placed at the rear right side of the crawler. It is used for tramming to the drill
site and for support and height positioning the rig on the hole. A pressure relief valve set at 200 bar in the inlet section
protects the support jacks from over pressure. The valve is an open centred valve, this guarantees cooling of the oil at all
times. To activate the valve, turn the three-way ball valve, 6V6, into tramming mode.
Valve section 9V1 controls the left traction motor. On the motor a counter balance valve block is mounted. This is to
have a controlled motion in down hill motion, and to protect the motor from over pressure.
Valve section 9V2 control the front left support jack. Tube mounted on the cylinder is a dual pilot check valve placed to
keep the jack cylinder locked in the position over time.
Valve section 9V3 control the rear left support jack. Tube mounted on the cylinder is a dual pilot check valve placed to
keep the jack cylinder locked in position over time.
Valve section 9V5 controls the rear right support jack. Tube mounted on the cylinder is a dual pilot check valve placed to
keep the jack cylinder locked in position over time.
Valve section 9V6 controls the front right support jack. Tube mounted on the cylinder is a dual pilot check valve placed
to keep the jack cylinder locked in position over time.
Valve section 9V7 controls the right traction motor. On the motor a counter balance valve block is mounted. This is to
have a controlled motion in down hill motion, and to protect the motor from over pressure.
