1. On an alif ()أ
When it has sukun after a letter with fathah,
as in َر ْأس
2. On a waw ()ؤ
When it has fathah or sukun after a letter
with dhammah, as in ُمَؤ ِّلفand ُلُؤ ُلؤ
When it has dhammah after a letter that has
dhammah, fathah or sukun, as in ُش ُؤ ْو ن
(affairs), ( َيُؤ ُّمhe leads) or ( َمْر ُؤ وسsome write it
as )َمْر ُءْو س
When two ’وs follow each other there
are several approaches for writing it
(taking َمْر ُؤ وسas an example):
Writing ءon the line by itself, as in
( َمْر ُءْو سor as ئif it can connect to
the letter before, as in )ُش ُئون
Writing it on a وas in َمْر ُؤ وس
Writing it on the second وand
dropping the first, as in َمْر ؤس
3. On a yaa ()ئ
Whenever it has a kasrah, as in َس ِئم, or ( ُس ِئَلhe
was asked), ( أْس ِئَلةquestions) and َم ساِئل
(matters)
If it has fathah, dhammah or sukun after (a
letter with a kasrah or silent )ي, as in ( ِم َئةa
hundred), ( ِفُئْو نgroups), ( ِبْئرwell), ( ُمِس ْيئانtwo
who harm), ( ُمِس ْيُئْو نones who harm)
