JULIE ANN S.

PAULINO
ACTIVITY 1.

1.      How would you characterize yourself?

“I’ve never been a natural all I do is try, try, try.”

This line came from one of Taylor Swift songs called mirrorball which I always
relate myself to. I characterize myself as a person who is constantly trying her best
and serves as light to others life no matter how dark my own days are. I am a person
who always want to validate others but are still insecure in myself. I am a person
who believes that I am just a piece of different people and influences in their life
because I don’t know how to build my own personality. It is very much daunting for
me to define my abstract characteristics as it feels like I’m limiting myself into what I
was in my past and never really truly committing to growth.
I believe that even though I can never really set standards of how I see myself
today but I can always help myself choose the right adjectives to follow the phrase “I
am…” with what I want to become. As of today, all I know is this is me trying my very
best to achieve many great things in life that my younger self cannot fathom doing.

2.      What makes you stand out from the rest? What makes yourself special?

The fact that I’m very mindful that no one could ever define me helped me
become more open to growth and character development. If I’m not good at
something, lack of capabilities in doing something but is needed, I always find a way
on how to work on it. Whenever I feel insecure of others, I always disregard the
thought of it and tell myself positive things even if it wasn’t easy and takes a long
time to accept things. I let myself feel whatever emotions I am feeling for it is a part
of me. I acknowledge my mistakes, learn from it. Turn my weakness into strength.
With this, I came up with the realization that “somehow” I could be on my best self by
doing great things without competing with others.
Furthermore, I am fully aware that somehow these realizations are just like
the others but what makes it unique is the fact that as times goes by I learned how to
constantly change my perspective in life and slowly replacing my toxic traits into
something I never thought I could ever become.

3.      How has your self-transformed itself?

As it became expose to the real world. Started schooling, listening to other

people’s beliefs, opinions and adopt others personalities. As it starts to came out
from its comfort zone that’s where toxicity is and couldn’t fully helped someone to
develop the better version of themselves. I have transformed myself into an
individual by developing and choosing a characteristic or personality that’s suitable
for every occasions and persons that I am with. I have transformed myself by making
decisions that the intentions are to be better and what’s good for everyone. I have
transformed myself by handling mature situations with seeking the advice and help
of this world’s technological advancement and of the people whom I trust.
4.      How is your self-connected to your body?

Base on the 3 level of mental life by Sigmund Freud, I believe that the so
called “self” is our “consciousness” which comes from our mind, and that the mind is
a concept which only exists to the extent of the brain’s capacity to think, reason, and
understand. Thus, the body has a brain, which forms the “mind,” and this is where
our consciousness or “self” originates.

5.      How is your self-related to other selves?

We all are born to this world with knowing nothing, but as soon as we age, we
have no choice but to feed our minds with other people’s beliefs, perspectives, and
adopt the things that we experienced in our daily life. They maybe my parents,
siblings, friends, teachers or even a stranger that became a part of my life. They may
open my mind of how cruel the reality of life is, they shared experience in life that I
will soon be experiencing, and they may taught me to be independent. But little did I
know that those can be toxic, can affect my mental health and character
development still these people are also products of the environment that they are in
and still growing. But just like them, I can also become a person who contributes
both positively and negatively to another person’s life. That is how we all are related
to other selves.

6.      What will happen to yourself after you die?

Whoever is born, will also have to die. This is the law of the place where we
are living. I believe, when I die there will be a lot of actions between my soul and
body. As Christian, we believe in many possibilities that might happen to a person
after they die such as; go to hell, purgatory or heaven. As my body, I believe it will
decompose and will turn to ashes. Hence, the memories I left behind will rent free
living in the minds of my loved ones, but soon will be forgotten.
Furthermore, I personally believed that after I die my soul will still roam
around, as it continue to transverse around the world, after that is the time where my
soul will be judged for resurrection. And after we die for a long period of time, here
will come the word we call “reincarnation.”
